american ninja warrior winner drew drechsel 31 is arrested on child sex and pornography charges

Last year’s winner of American Ninja warrior has been arrested on a series of child sex crime charges, including luring an underage girl for sex and manufacturing child pornography.

Andrew ‘Drew’ Drechsel, 31, was arrested at his home in St. Cloud, Florida on Tuesday, the US Attorney’s Office of the District of New Jersey announced in a press release.

Known by his nickname ‘the Real Life Ninja’, Drechsel allegedly began a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl in New Jersey back in 2015, documents obtained by DailyMail.com show.

Then 26, Drechsel apparently met the alleged victim a year earlier at an American Ninja Warrior contestant event, where they exchanged numbers and began texting one another.

During their purported correspondence, Drechsel is said to have arranged for the girl – who lived in New Jersey at the time – to visit his gym, the Real Life Ninja Academy, in Hamden, Connecticut in July 2015 as a present for her 15th birthday.

The pair exchanged text messages about ‘plans for sexual activity’ in the lead up to her visit, the complaint states.

During her visit to the gym, Drechsel and the girl reportedly became intimate inside his office after his girlfriend, April Beckner, left the premises.

Prosecutors say Drechsel laid out a mattress and blanket behind a wall in his office where he allegedly had sex with the teen.

The girl told her mother about the alleged sexual encounter later the same day. When the mother confronted Drechsel about the incident, she claims he ‘did not deny the sexual activity, but rather stated he did not know her age at the time.’

Just weeks later, Drechsel contacted the victim again where they discussed having sexual relations again, prosecutors say.

The Ninja Warrior champion allegedly told the victim that the next time they met, unlike on the previous occasion they would not have ‘time to deal with [victim’s] shyness and timidity.’

The teen is said to have confessed that though she was nervous it wouldn’t happen again.

‘PSH, we’ll see I guess,’ Drechsel is said to have responded, to which the girl said she’d ‘be better’ for him the next time they met.

The following January, Drechsel texted the girl to inform her he was travelling from Connecticut to New Jersey and reportedly told her he wanted to meet for another sexual encounter.

He reportedly picked the teen girl up from her home, and drove her to the parking lot of a restaurant in Marlton where they had sex.

Having reviewed Drechsel’s bank account activity, investigators say his card was charged at the Marlton restaurant for $37.76 on January 2, 2016 – the same day the girl claims the sexual encounter occurred.

According to the girl, Drechsel picked up food after the encounter ended so he would have an excuse to tell his girlfriend when he returned home.

The girl claimed that they had sex several more times between the time she was 15 and 17 years old, according to the complaint.

They would also communicate regularly on Skype, where Drechsel allegedly instructed the girl to remove all of her clothes on numerous occasions and filmed the encounters on his cell phone without her knowledge.

Sexual images and video footage of the girl was found by investigators on Drechsel’s old cell phone, according to the complaint. One of the images was taken when she was just 14-years-old.

In a text exchanged dated June 26, 2016, when the girl was 16-years-old, Drechsel reportedly messaged her saying ‘Skype now?’

The girl responded that she didn’t feel comfortable video chatting Drechsel, allegedly adding that she ‘felt he was not enjoying himself’.

Drechsel reportedly reassured her, ‘It’s always fun for me, you’re always fantastic and I wish I were there to help.’

The victim came forward to police in June 2019, the complaint states. Officers spoke to the mother of the girl, now 19, who confirmed that her daughter confided in her when the sexual relationship began.

According to the mother, she didn’t report the incident to police at the time because her daughter threatened to harm herself if she did.

The charges against Drechsel include manufacture of child pornography, enticement of a minor to travel for illicit sexual conduct, travel with the intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor, and use of interstate commerce to entice a minor.

Drechsel’s lawyer, Frank Riccio, said Tuesday that his client plans to plead not guilty to all charges.

‘Mr. Drechsel is presumed innocent of the charges and that presumption will remain throughout the pendency of his case,’ Riccio tweeted. ‘He intends on entering a “not guilty” plea. It is respectfully requested that you respect the privacy of Mr. Drechsel and his family.’

Drechsel and Beckner welcomed their first child together, a baby boy, in December last year.

In the hours since the complaint was released, Beckner has deleted her public social media profiles and Drechsel has turned his Instagram account private.

Drechsel, who made the winning rope climb for Team USA in the 2019 ‘USA vs. the World’ American Ninja Warrior competition, and who also participated on Team USA earlier this year, faces a maximum sentence of life in prison for use of interstate commerce to entice a minor.

The additional four charges he faces carry a combined maximum sentence of 95 years in prison, with a maximum fine of $250,000 per count.

mums who have transformed their bodies share how to lose five kilos in a month

A group of Australian mothers have shared their best weight loss tips after transforming their bodies, so you can lose five kilos by the end of October.

The women all believe that significant loss of fat comes down to controlling your portions, avoiding added sugar and trying to incorporate movement into your everyday life.

Mother-of-five Hannah Pech lost 34 kilos and went down four dress sizes in 18 months when she started on The Healthy Mummy challenge, which incorporates simple – but effective – strategies to help individuals eat smarter and train harder.

‘I often do three HIIT workouts at home a week and sometimes include some boxing. I do a run or walk 2-3 times a week too and sometimes a bike ride,’ she said.

She tries not to overthink the food she’s eating and keeps snacks simple, like an apple, popcorn or some ham and cheese for afternoon tea.

For her kids, Hannah often creates ‘platter dinners’ where she puts a host of fruits, vegetables and treats in a segmented container.

‘The only rule is my five kids have to choose at least one thing from each of the sections,’ she said.

‘The only rule is my five kids have to choose at least one thing from each of the sections,’ Hannah said (another ‘platter dinner’ pictured)

Typical snacks she puts in the sections include broccoli, corn on the cob, strawberries, cheese slices, blueberries, crackers and popcorn.

‘I find that this encourages them to try new foods, be independent and get to recognise how much they need to eat (instead of me always filling their plates up),’ Hannah said.

‘It also helps with the mid-week craziness and making sure they get fed healthily in the middle of the week.’

Hannah’s tips for losing weight:

Control your portions: Portion control is one of the most important factors in weight loss, weight maintenance and weight gain, especially when you are trying to lose weight.

The Australian Dietary Guidelines recommends that you eat from a variety different food groups each to get a range of vitamins and nutrients to support your health.

Move more: For some people, a daily walk and some weekly strength training are enough to see great results.

For others, you might need to get more of a sweat on to see the benefit. Try alternating your walks with jogging or a light run. Increase your strength training as this helps to build muscle which means you will burn more calories even from your daily movements.

Ditch processed food: Cut out processed food and things like white bread, rice and pasta and have wholegrain and wholemeal versions instead which are high in fibre and vitamins.

Mum-of-three Kylie, another Healthy Mummy devotee, has lost 37 kilos on the weight program and stresses the importance of meal prepping.

She uses the company’s app to brainstorm meals each week for her family, like teriyaki chicken with rice and greens and strawberry and dark chocolate parfaits as a sweet snack.

For a savoury snack, Kylie tends to grab a snack plate with veggie sticks and dip.

Then she pre-chops vegetables and protein needed for specific meals and makes a few lunches and dinners at a time. Overnight oats can also be prepared and put in the fridge ahead of time for breakfast.

Avoiding excess sugar in granolas, sweet drinks, supermarket sauces and pre-packaged snacks is also one of the easiest ways to lose fat and prevent excess bloating around the stomach.

‘Ensure that you are eating enough protein in your meals and snacks. This helps you to feel fuller for longer and gets your metabolism firing. Think nuts, LSA, boiled eggs, poached chicken, natural peanut butter and tofu,’ Kylie said.

Mother-of-four Kim White, who lost 37 kilos in 13 months, said it’s important to see how much weight you’ve lost – even if it’s only 500g – in a physical object, to motivate you to keep going.

‘Sometimes seeing the weight you have lost in an actual object you can see or lift makes you appreciate all the hard work you have done,’ she said.

‘Try finding something equal to what you have lost and lift it. My daughter weighs 30 kilos. I have lost more than my daughter! I have lost a whole little person off my body. I struggled to lift her. She thought it was awesome.

Make meals go further: She also swears by meal prepping to lose weight but says that the added side effect is saving money.

‘Add vegetables or legumes to a meal to bulk out. If you can, try and make the meal into two meals. I’ll make Mexican chicken and we will have it in wraps with salad and then nachos the next night.

‘Use a slow cooker too as meat shrinks less and you’re not having to use oil to cook.’

megan gale touches on her brother s tragic death as she announces shes closing her business

Megan Gale has announced she is closing down her children’s skincare business, The Mindful Life.

The 45-year-old model shared an emotional video to Instagram on Monday in which she revealed that her brother Jason’s tragic death in July had made her ‘reassess’ her life and priorities.

‘There’s nothing like the death of someone extremely close to you to make you stop and take stock and make you reassess what you’re doing with your own life and underline the complete importance of how precious life is,’ Megan said.

‘Life is precious’: On Monday, a heartbroken Megan Gale touched on her brother Jason’s death as she announced she was closing her children’s skincare business

Megan said she was devastated to be closing her business selling natural skincare products for children, but she knew it was the right thing to do.

She said she ‘fought’ hard to keep her business going after being let down by third parties, but admitted it had become ‘soul destroying’.

‘For me it’s been particularly challenging doing a business myself… In short, I trusted the wrong people and with some pretty major elements of the business. What I lost was the most valuable commodity – time,’ she said.

She explained that she’d tried to save the business by asking advisers for help, but then found out her brother had died, which completely changed her perspective.

‘Nothing else mattered except family, that’s when I pressed pause, went to Perth and in quarantine,’ Megan said.

‘That’s when I had a lot of time. There’s nothing like the death of someone extremely close to you to make you stop and take stock and make you reassess what you’re doing with your own life.’

Following Jason’s death, she came to realise ‘the complete importance of how precious life is and how little time we really do have here and how we don’t know how long we have here’.

She added: ‘As I sat in quarantine, I realised I don’t have to keep fighting to rebuild this business, what I should be fighting for is rebuilding myself… Ultimately, day to day, it was becoming less and less harmonious for me.’

After winding down her business, Megan now gets to spend more time with her children, River, six, and Rosie, two, and her fiancé, retired AFL star Shaun Hampson.

She added that ‘The Mindful Life 2.0’ could always come back in future.

Earlier this month, Megan broke her silence on her brother Jason’s death, which occurred in July.

With tough border restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Melbourne-based model revealed on Instagram that she knew she ‘would regret not going’ to his funeral in Perth.

Jason Gale, 49, was last seen at a petrol station on July 14 in Western Australia, and was found dead a week later in bushland next to his 1999 Honda CR-V SUV.

Megan flew from Melbourne to Perth, where she completed two weeks of hotel quarantine, and travelled to Fremantle Cemetery for his cremation service.

In her video, Megan said she’d ‘weighed up’ whether to stay in Melbourne and seek the comfort of her immediate family, or fly to Perth and play her part in sending her brother off.

‘I had to weigh that up. Part of me wanted to stay in Melbourne and be with my kids and my man at that time when I needed comfort more than any other time in my life,’ she said.

‘But I also wanted to be in Perth to support my mum, my brother and the rest of my family, and play a part in sending my brother off and putting him to rest.’

Megan also revealed her concerns about her attendance drawing ‘more media attention’ to her brother’s death.

Jason was last seen on July 14 buying petrol and water at the Popanyinning General Store, 160km south-east from his Perth home.

Following a desperate week-long search by family, friends and police, he was found dead next to his car. The death was not considered suspicious.

Jason, an industrial mechanic, was known for ‘going bush’ but his friend Belinda Murray said he had never disappeared before.

Ms Murray said Jason ‘really struggled’ after watching a man die in a tragic 2018 incident at a wastewater plant south of Perth.

Daily Mail Australia understands Jason was one of a group of colleagues who were there with the victim when he was struck and killed by a pipe.
