‘It looks as though [the skull] has been there for a little while,’ a Queensland Police spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia:

Durikai State Forest was once a favourite spot for gold prospectors to work.

Parts of the forest have been closed off while police investigate.

Investigations are ongoing.

A high school student has been impaled by a javelin in a freak accident during a PE lesson.

The boy pierced his groin when he tripped over the razor-sharp gym equipment at Saint Stephen’s College in the northern Gold Coast suburb of Coomera just before 11am on Wednesday morning.

A QAS spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia the boy – aged in his pre-teens -was assessed for a groin injury and taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

The boy still had parts of the javelin inside his body when he arrived at hospital after fire crews had broken off the ends with cutting equipment.

Critical care paramedics and high acuity response unit personnel were among those called to the scene.

The boy is believed to have fallen on top of the javelin after he tried to jump over it while it was stuck in the ground, The Courier-Mail reported.

Footage showed two QAS vehicles leaving the school under lights and sirens.

black suv smashes into ute after trying to turn left from middle lane

The shocking moment a ute was run off the road by a car which veered from the middle lane to turn left at the last minute has been captured on camera.

Footage shared to Dash Cam Owners Australia shows the ute driving past a left turning lane toward a green traffic light.

As the ute driver approaches the lights, the cars in the middle lane begin to move when suddenly a black SUV indicates to turn left.

While some drivers sided with the ute, pointing out the SUV was in the wrong lane, others claimed the black car gave ample notice that it intended to turn left and was properly indicating.

In the footage, the ute driver beeps his horn for a while as the SUV takes his lane in an attempt to turn left into another street from the middle lane.

The two cars collide and the ute continued forward before smashing into a set of traffic lights and poles.

Some social media users slammed the ute driver for not slowing down after seeing the indicator.

‘The dash cam guy didn’t do anything illegal, just unsafe and paid the price. You don’t go that kind of speed past traffic and expect a straight shot,’ someone commented.

‘There was plenty of notice of intention to change lane and the ute driver was in too much of a hurry,’ another wrote.

Others said the driver of the black car was in the wrong for attempting to turn left from the middle lane after forgetting their exit.

‘Putting on your indicator doesn’t give you the right to do whatever you want,’ someone wrote.

‘You missed your turn, too bad, find somewhere else to turn that is the correct way and double back!!’ another commented.

Under the Australian Road Rules, drivers shouldn’t change lanes within 15 metres of an intersection.

Before the intersection, drivers can change lanes by indicating and giving way.

SAS Australia’s Jackson Warne took a subtle swipe at his cricketer legend dad Shane on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old joked his sports star father wouldn’t be able to complete the gruelling challenges on Seven’s military-style show because he isn’t ‘fit enough’.

‘I don’t think he’d be able to jump out of the chopper, I don’t think he would’ve done initiation,’ Jackson said on Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa.

‘But the cardio and the lifting, he might have got into shape? But even his cricketing days, he was fit, but I don’t think he was SAS fit,’ he said.

Jackson went on to say his mother Simone Callahan would of been able to complete the ‘cold water challenges’.

‘She’s crazy with that stuff. I was doing it with her leading up to the show just to get used to it and adapt,’ he explained.

Meanwhile, Shane’s weight has fluctuated dramatically over the years, with a significant weight gain back in 2017 the last to be widely reported on.

Shane openly joked about his weight at the time  – notably during an idyllic vacation with his children in Spain.

‘Auditioning for the Baywatch with big bellies movie hahah,’ part of his post read.

In 1997, Shane also stormed off when a reporter made a comment about his weight after his wax figure was inducted into Madame Tussauds Wax Museum.

The reporter asked the sports star: ‘This was done obviously a few months ago so which figure would you prefer?’

‘That’s why I wasn’t answering any questions. That’s it, you’ve ruined it,’ Shane said before storming off.

Meanwhile, Shane recently vowed to get his weight down to 80kg, and revealed in July last year that he’d already lost 14 kilos but wasn’t done yet.
