allison holker praises daughter weslie for using her voice after naysayer criticized her fashion

Allison Holker couldn’t be more prouder of her 12-year-old daughter for standing up to social media trolls.

The Dancing With The Stars alum, 32, shared a clip of her first born, Weslie Fowler, who hit back at a naysayer who criticized her for dressing like a boy in her TikTok video.

‘Patriarchy is dead,’ the pre-teen responded, in reference to the idea that men hold the power in society and women are largely excluded from it.

‘Just because I don’t wear dresses and bright pink doesn’t mean I’m dressing like a boy.’

‘This is my style and I necessarily wear comfy clothes and darker colors, and just because I dress like that, doesn’t mean I’m dressing like a boy,’ Weslie explained with the confidence of a mature adult.

‘And it doesn’t mean that boys or girls are defined to wear certain things because of their gender. It doesn’t mean anything. Just because you can’t open your eyes, doesn’t mean I’m about to change.’

The So You Think You Can Dance all-star applauded her daughter by sharing the clip with her 1.9 million Instagram followers, along with some encouraging words.

‘Proud of my daughter for standing up for herself and using her voice,’ Allison captioned the video.

‘We need to stop trying to tear each other down … instead we should stand together understanding our uniqueness is beautiful! Love you.’

The response to the American dancer’s post in the comments section has been overwhelmingly positive.

One person wrote, ‘Atta girl,’ while a slew of other men and women just wrote ‘yes’ in solidarity with Weslie.

A particular lady couldn’t hold back her sheer emotion and wrote: ‘I feel like a proud mom and she’s not even mine… yes girl!’

And yet another supporter declared: ‘She’s gonna change the world.’

tenets domestic haul rises to a paltry 36m as the us box office continues to disappoint

Christopher Nolan’s newest film Tenet came out on top at the US box office this weekend with new grosses of $4.7 million as domestic releases continued to see disappointing earnings.

The second place spot was filled by Disney’s X-Men horror spin-off The New Mutants, which took in $1.6 million over the weekend, according to Deadline.

The box office is likely to be even more anemic throughout the fall, as there aren’t any more major studio releases scheduled until October 23.

Pocket change: Christopher Nolan's Tenet earned only $4.7M at the domestic box office for a disappointing $36M domestic total ahead of an anemic fall movie season, according to Deadline; still from Tenet

Currently, only three-quarters of movie theaters in the US are operating, but Americans haven’t been rushing back in large numbers due to coronavirus pandemic fears, even as major releases like Tenet have debuted in theaters rather than online.

Tenet’s $4.7 million haul came from nearly 2,930 locations.

Other returning films behind second-place finisher The New Mutants were the Russell Crowe–starring Unhinged, which earned $1.3 million, and the Sony rom-com The Broken Hearts Gallery, which only took in $800,000 in its second weekend.

The new arrival Infidel, which stars The Passion Of The Christ’s Jim Caviezel, came in third with a disappointing $1.5 million from just over 1,700 theaters.

Fans of adult dramas had the options of checking out IFC’s The Nest, which starred Jude Law and Carrie Coon, while thriller fans could peruse Bleecker Street’s The Secrets We Keep, starring Noomi Rapace and Joel Kinnaman, but neither film earned much more than $200 per theater.

The Nest earned around $62,000 in 301 theaters, while The Secrets We Keep took in under $90,000 from 471 locations.

‘There’s no question that this is an extraordinarily challenging marketplace, especially for North America,’ said Paul Dergarabedian, Comscore’s senior media analyst. ‘This is a slow roll out. It’s going to take some time.’

Theaters in the US haven’t seen the droves of customers they were hoping for after being open for about a month, and the current releases may have even hurt their standing.

Some theaters opened up specifically to begin showing Tenet, but its disappoint ticket sales have left many of them operating at a loss, according to IndieWire.

Some of those theaters would have been in better financial standing if they’d stayed closed longer to keep their expenses as low as possible.

Also hurting Tenet, which is likely to lose money, are the lack of open indoor theaters in New York and Los Angeles.

Tenet’s best market was in LA-adjacent Orange County, suggesting the film could make considerably more when those major markets are open.

The next major release in the US won’t be until October 23 with 20th Century Studios/Disney’s Agatha Christie mystery Death on the Nile, with Marvel’s Scarlett Johansson–starring Black Widow following on November 6.

In the distance: The fall schedule is mostly bare until Death On The Nile on October 23 and the November 6 premiere of the Marvel movie Black Widow

It’s natural that we’re going to see release date changes for many movies,’ Dergarabedian continued. ‘It’s a very unpredictable marketplace.’

Globally, Tenet has also managed to cross a major milestone this weekend: The $250 million mark.

That puts it in contrast with Disney’s live-action Mulan, which has proved to be a disappointment.

After a weak debut in China last week, Mulan dropped a stunning 72 percent in its second weekend, after local audiences criticized it for being ‘inauthentic.’

The film added $6.5 million in China and $10.9 million total, bringing its international total to $57 million.

The $200 million production was supposed to be a massive global theatrical release back in March and The Walt Disney Co. revised plans a number of times before settling on a hybrid release, where people who already pay for a Disney+ subscription can rent it for $30.

‘My girls have always wanted me to do this but I’ve always been too scared someone will skate over my fingers!

‘Anyway, I want to make them proud and show them I’m up for a challenge when completely out of my comfort zone but most of all, I want a bum like Jlo!’

Myleene’s exciting new challenge comes just one week after she revealed she had gotten engaged to her long-term beau and the father of her one-year-old son Apollo, Simon Motson.

Dancing On Ice will return to ITV in the new year and see twelve celebrities skate live with their professional partners each week.

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby once again return to present the show and the expert panel of Torvill and Dean, John Barrowman and Ashley Banjo will all resume their roles as judges.

On joining the show, Myleene said: ‘I have a 13 year old daughter and a nine year old daughter who are obsessed with ice skating.

Amid the exciting revelation a source told the Sun that bosses were ‘delighted’ to work with Myleene and added that she’s thought to have signed a ‘huge deal worth over £50,000’.

MailOnline has contacted Myleene’s representative as well as Dancing On Ice for a comment.

Other stars thought to be in the running for a spot on Dancing On Ice include Jason Donovan and Denise Van Outen.

The former Neighbours heartthrob – who competed on Strictly in 2011 – is expected to join the star-studded line-up on the ITV show when it airs in January.

A source told The Sun that Jason had lots of ‘star power’ but added that his dancing skills may not be as helpful as he thinks once on the ice.

Jason isn’t the only West End star who has been linked to the rink, with Denise Van Outen said to have signed a deal worth around £40,000 to appear on the series.

According to the Daily Star, Denise ‘jumped at the chance’ to take part in the show when it kicks off in January after impressing at an audition last month.

Reality star Billie Faiers and footballer Wayne Bridge, who is married to The Saturdays singer Frankie, have also been tipped for the next series in recent weeks.

A source suggested that Billie would bring fun energy to the show and would be a well-known name after the success of her reality TV career.

eastenders jake wood breaks silence on soap

EastEnders star Jake Wood has broken his silence following the announcement of his exit from the soap last week after 15 years on the show.

The TV star, 48, who has appeared as Max Branning on screen since 2006, will be leaving Albert Square with an ‘explosive storyline’.

However in an Instagram post on Sunday addressing his decision to leave, he admitted that he is grateful to show bosses who have ‘left the door open for him to return’.

Sharing a topless picture with the words ‘New horizons coming soon watch this space’ across it, he wrote: ‘After 15 years I will be leaving Eastenders at the end of this year.

‘I have loved playing Max Branning who amongst other things in that time has had 4 marriages, 10 affairs, 4 children (2 dying from falling from the roof of The Queen Vic), been buried alive, watched unwanted DVDs at Xmas and perhaps most traumatising of all…shared a hot tub with Ian Beale.

‘I have made some truly great friends whilst on the show and I’ll miss everyone there. I’m grateful they have left the door open for Max and I’m excited to see what new horizons are around the corner.

‘Thank you to everyone who has sent me messages this week, I appreciate the love and support.’

It comes amid reports that EastEnders stars have been left unhappy and even considering quitting over extended breaks and pay losses on the soap due to the coronavirus crisis.

It has been claimed that due to social distancing measures, fewer cast members can be allowed on the set at the same time.

And while stars are taking an ‘extended break’, they will not be paid during their time off.

As well as Jake, Lacey Turner is also reportedly set to take a lengthy break from EastEnders just as her character Stacey Fowler has returned to Albert Square while Tiffany Butcher star Maisie Smith was announced as a contestant on Strictly earlier this month.

Yet an EastEnders spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘It is not unusual in soaps for cast to have breaks for storyline reasons or other projects.

‘However these are always planned months in advance and no discussions have taken place about operating a period of extended breaks, nor are we introducing a rotation system.’

It comes after a source told the Mirror: ‘Cast were called by producers over the past few weeks and told that, going forward, they would be operating a period of extended breaks for some.

‘It could see up to a third of the cast off at any one time on a loose rotation system. Actors will not be paid when they are off and they’re not happy. Some are considering quitting.

‘Social distancing means that fewer people can be on set at one time and they have to save money during difficult financial times.’

MailOnline has contacted EastEnders for comment.

Jake was also recently tipped to take part in this year’s I’m A Celebrity, with betting giant Ladbrokes have already placed odds of 3-1 on his involvement.

Jake first joined the EastEnders cast in 2006, and has faced his fair share of drama, including womanising, a secret marriage and even being framed for murder.

Jake’s final scenes are expected to air later this year, as EastEnders fans gear up for the soap’s much-anticipated Christmas storylines.

On his exit an insider told Digital Spy: ‘Sometimes in Soapland big characters have to leave.

‘Bosses are staying tight-lipped about what they have planned for Max, but considering he has played a major part in the show for over 15 years, they are clearly planning something big and he will not be departing Walford quietly.

‘Everyone will be sad to see Jake go as he is not only a great person to have on set but he’s also a fantastic actor.’

His departure comes after Jake took a year-long break from the soap in 2015 to spend more time with his family, with his exit coinciding with Max being wrongfully jailed for Lucy Beale’s murder.

Max then returned to Walford set on revenge, but his plot for payback went a step too far, leading to the death of his daughter Abi on Christmas Day 2017 after falling off the roof of the Queen Vic pub.

Since EastEnders returned to screens last week, fans have been Max embroiled in a nasty feud with Ian Beale, after he cheated him out of his share of the proceeds from selling half of Walford East.

He also took centre stage in EastEnders’ iconic 2007 Christmas Special, when his affair with daughter-in-law Stacey was revealed, leaving his wife Tanya devastated.

In 2010 he was left distraught when his son Bradley was tragically killed during the soap’s 25th Anniversary special, before learning seconds later that Stacey had murdered Archie Mitchell after weeks of theories among fans.

Max faced a turbulent relationship with wife Tanya, and despite attempting to rekindle their relationship after she was diagnosed with cancer, she was furious to learn he’d secretly married another woman.

He’s also long been known for his womanising ways, and along with his secret liaisons with now-dead Lucy, he also had an on-off affair with Stacey, and most recently her best friend Ruby Allen.
