Bruce Springsteen: ‘If Trump wins I’m moving to Australia’

He may have been born in the USA, but Bruce Springsteen has joked that he’ll move to Australia if Donald Trump is re-elected.

The 20-time Grammy winner made the lighthearted comment on Wednesday during a virtual press conference promoting his new album, Letter to You.

Springsteen, a longtime critic of the president, was asked by an Australian reporter if he would consider moving Down Under in the event of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden losing the election on November 3.

‘I would consider that,’ he replied.

‘I love Australia. We have nothing but good times down there; it’s always a treat to come. Love the people, love the geography. [It’s a] great place for motorcycle trips… it’s close to our hearts.’

He made the remark – which wasn’t intended to be taken seriously – after sharing his thoughts on Trump’s re-election campaign and its chances of success.

‘If Trump is re-elected – which he will not, they’re predicting right now he’s going to lose – but if by some happenstance he should, I’ll see you on the next plane,’ he said.

Springsteen, known for his hits Born in the USA, Dancing in the Dark and Streets of Philadelphia, said in a Esquire profile in November 2018 that President Trump ‘has no interest in uniting the country’.

‘Actually [Trump] has an interest in doing the opposite and dividing us, which he does on an almost daily basis,’ he added.

‘That’s simply a crime against humanity, as far as I’m concerned.’

In the same wide-ranging interview, the 71-year-old songwriter said he was hopeful that America would ‘survive Trump’ and reclaim its ‘basic founding principles’ of equality and social justice.

Bruce Springsteen’s Letter to You documentary will stream on Apple TV+ on October 23, the same day as the Letter to You album’s release.

Motsi began the critiques, as she said: ‘I have to say going from being a former politician and coming onto the ballroom and looking like a dancing girl, you did really well, what we need now is you feeling comfortable expressing yourself, keep everything constant but well done.’

Craig was a lot harsher as he claimed their performance ‘lacked musicality’ which meant it was ‘lumpy’, but he encouraged her by adding: ‘I am looking on the bright side, when you consider Theresa May and her dancing, you were ten times better.’

Shirley added that she was ‘pleasantly surprised’ by the pair, as she on: ‘Like everybody else, its the first show you’re starting out but I was absolutely surprised and I loved it well done.’

She sweetly captioned the snap with ‘Me & U,’ with a heart emoji, while the footballer shared the photo to his Instagram Story.

Taylor’s 624K followers and celebrity pals were quick to share their support, with her reality star mother Dawn, 47, giving her approval.

Real Housewives of Cheshire star Dawn posted a series of red heart emojis – one day after appearing in court charged with the racially-aggravated harassment of two Jewish brothers and possession of cocaine.

Taylor and Riyad were first liked in February when it was claimed they had been on a string of dates after the sportsman ended his marriage to ex-model Rita.

The source also claimed that Taylor – who had previously been linked to Riyad’s teammate Sergio Ageuro – refused to pursue a romance until she knew his marriage was over.

‘Riyad and Taylor get on brilliantly, and initially started hanging out as mates. He thinks she’s gorgeous, and has joined her and her pals for a few group dates,’ the source told The Sun On Sunday.

‘They’ve been friends for a while but Taylor refused to go there romantically until she knew his marriage was over. She is very much a girls’ girl and would never break that code.

‘Taylor is stunning and Riyad’s team-mates have been ribbing him about how he’s been punching above his weight.’

MailOnline contacted representatives for Riyad Mahrez, Rita Johal and Taylor Ward for comment at the time.

Last year, it was claimed Taylor had been dating Riyad’s teammate Aguero, after he split from wife Gianna in 2012.

A source told The Sun at the time: ‘About two weeks ago they went for a spa day together. And they were on a pal’s Instagram too before Christmas.’

Taylor’s dad Ashley, 49, is also a former footballer who retired from the sport in 2005 and the family live in a £15 million Cheshire mansion.

Riyad tied the knot with wife Rita in 2015 and they share two daughters.

On Monday, Taylor’s Real Housewives Of Cheshire star mother Dawn Ward appeared in court charged with the racially-aggravated harassment of two Jewish brothers and possession of cocaine.

The WAG and businesswoman, 47, is accused of committing the offences at Euston Railway Station in London on October 29 last year – but wont face trial until March 2022.

Each charge carries the potential of six months behind bars or an unlimited fine.

Dawn first appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on September 10 this year but was later called again on September 28 for a plea hearing.

She denies all the charges and said in a statement posted to her Instagram account: ‘I vehemently deny these allegations and look forward to clearing my name in court when the full facts can be made public.’

She is studying to become a personal trainer, having discovered a passion for fitness and health in the past year.

And Alexandra Cane showcased the fruits of her labour as she posed braless on Instagram in a racy snap posted on Tuesday morning.

The Love Island star, 29, left little to the imagination in a revealing cropped beige pyjama top and matching thong, before returning to her slumber.

The reality TV personality flashed her silver chain link bracelet and ring as she captured the sultry selfie.

Alexandra left her raven tresses in natural and voluminous hairstyle.

In a candid social media snap on Monday, she displayed her svelte figure once again as she discussed her recent weight loss, admitting she used to have an ‘unhealthy relationship’ with alcohol and food.

She said: ‘I experienced years of no purpose, attempting the gym numerous times with money wasted on memberships I never used because I was so scared & didn’t have a clue what I was doing.

‘Last year I hit rock bottom and knew that no one was going to save me but myself.

‘I had an unhealthy relationship with food & alcohol which I was using as coping mechanisms to mask what was really going on underneath.’

Alexandra decided things could not go on as they were, and she decided to return to the gym in a bid to transform both her physical health and mental wellbeing.

She said: ‘A solid year of self development has transformed me not only physically, but most importantly, mentally. I am a different woman.

‘The aesthetics were fun for a while, but recent events (pandemic, stress etc) have emphasised the importance of truly looking after yourself from the inside out. Self care is not selfish, it’s necessary.

‘Any pain you might be suffering right now is an opportunity, not for others to see how strong you are, but for you to see how strong you are. Quit doubting yourself- YOU CAN.’

The TV star was formerly a make-up artist and shot to fame on the 2018 series of Love Island.
