Shockwaves were felt throughout the Australian news broadcasting industry on Tuesday as Channel 10 announced the shock axing of 25 of its stars.

Weatherman Tim Bailey, Studio 10 host Kerri-Anne Kennerley and journalist Natarsha Belling all fell victim to the brutal budget cuts in response to the sharp decline in advertising revenue caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Breathing a sigh of relief were Waleed Aly and Carrie Bickmore, whose current affairs show The Project was entirely unaffected by the cuts.

Others who were let go from the network on Tuesday included weatherman Josh Holt and newsreader Georgina Lewis from 10 News First Brisbane.

10 News First Adelaide was also significantly impacted as they axed newsreader Rebecca Morse, weather presenter Kate Freebairn and sports anchor Will Goodings.

Monika Kos, a newsreader with 10 News First Perth, was given the boot, as was the division’s weather presenter, Michael Schultz.

Mike Larkan was also sacked from 10 News First Melbourne.

Despite losing Kennerley and Belling, morning show Studio 10 will continue to air weekdays from 8am to midday for the time being.

Host Sarah Harris and entertainment reporter Angela Bishop are staying, and Denise Drysdale and Denise Scott will continue as contributors.

Narelda Jacobs will remain as newsreader and Jono Coleman will present the advertorial segments as normal.

Elyse Knowles and her boyfriend Josh Barker jetted into Sydney on Saturday, four days after announcing they’re expecting their first child together.

The couple were spotted arriving at Sydney Airport after enjoying a holiday in the Northern Territory.

Elyse, 27, hid her baby bump underneath a baggy beige T-shirt and loose matching coloured pants.

She carried a jumper around her shoulders and held a brown bag.

The mother-to-be completed her ensemble with a brown hat and wore a pair of black comfortable sneakers.

Meanwhile, Elyse’s boyfriend Josh also looked stylish in jeans, a striped T-shirt and matching black sneakers.

He wore a green hat and held a brown backpack on his shoulder while holding onto another blue bag in his hand.

Josh and Elyse have been vacationing in the Northern Territory and during their trip, the pair announced they’re expecting their first child together.

The model shared the joyful news to her Instagram page on Wednesday night.

‘And then there were 3 #babybarker,’ she wrote alongside a gallery of images of the couple on holiday.

The announcement comes four months after Elyse and Josh bought a $2.3million beach house in Byron Bay.

Their new 1960s built property is located in the old part of Byron Bay town, just a short walk from the main beach and surrounded by tranquil greenery.

Last year, Elyse told Daily Mail Australia that the couple had moved to Byron Bay from Melbourne while chasing a more sustainable lifestyle for themselves.

Speaking at an event in September, the model explained she’d physically confront strangers that she would see littering in Victoria, before eventually leaving.

She explained: ‘I just can’t see it being left on the ground and when they’re dropping rubbish, I think they need to be told off.’

hugh jackman shares a light hearted exchange with police in nyc

He’s one of the nicest guys in Hollywood.

And Hugh Jackman, 51, proved his nice guy credentials yet again on Saturday, while walking his beloved dogs Dali and Allegra in New York.

The masked-up X-Men star happily chatted to NYPD officers as he strolled through the city’s West Village neighbourhood.

Ahead of the Grammy Awards, Hugh looked calm and relaxed as he shared a brief conversation with officers on duty.

Hugh shared a laugh with the uniformed police men and women by the barricades

Despite the sunny day, Hugh opted for a pair of loose-fitting blue chinos and a plain black sweater.

He finished his outfit with a pair of blue sneakers and a black trucker hat.

Believed to have also been running a few errands, Hugh carried a number of items in a plastic bag.

Hugh, wife Deborra-Lee Furness, 64, and their children Ava, 14, and Oscar, 20, recently returned to New York from their stunning holiday home in the Hamptons.

In July, Hugh revealed he was homesick for Australia after a lengthy lockdown in New York City due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Deborra-lee and the couple’s children, Oscar and Ava, had initially been in Melbourne when COVID-19 was declared a pandemic in March.

But they returned to the U.S. just four days later in order to keep the family together.

Hugh will virtually attend The 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards this week.

He is one of five nominees up for an Emmy Award for Lead Actor in a Limited TV series or Movie for his role as Frank Tassone in Bad Education.

‘I’m humbled by the nominations for both me and the film and excited to be named with such a talented group of actors,’ Hugh said in a statement at the time.

Jimmy Kimmel will host the show from a stage inside California’s Staples Center, which will have no red carpet or audience, Variety reported last month.

Tommy Lee was pictured stepping out to lunch with his 24-year-old son Brandon at the Calabasas Commons this weekend.

The 57-year-old Motley Crue drummer showed off his arm tattoos in a T-shirt that read: ‘PLEASE EVOLVE.’

Their friendly public sighting comes two years after they buried their feud with an Instagram hug – in the months following an alleged physical fight between them.

Tommy shares Brandon and a 22-year-old son called Dylan with his ex-wife Pamela Anderson with whom he famously starred in a sex tape.

Brandon and Tommy hugged out their differences in an Instagram picture posted in December 2018, eight months after their alleged altercation.

Tommy posted the picture and captioned it simply: ‘I love you son,’ leading Brandon to comment: ‘Love you dad.’

They allegedly went went toe-to-toe in March 2018, resulting in injuries severe enough to warrant a hospital trip for the drummer.

Tommy went off about the fight on Twitter at the time, writing: ‘My fiancée [Brittany Furlan] and I were in bed when my son busted into the room and assaulted me. I asked him to leave the house and he knocked me unconscious. He ran away from the police. THAT’S the truth.’

The LA County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that they responded to the incident at Tommy’s home at the time of the alleged altercation.

After the incident, Tommy Lee posted a photo of swollen and bloody lips as evidence of the attack.

It was captioned: ‘My heart is broken. You can give your kids everything they could ever want in their entire lives and they can still turn against you

Brandon responded shortly thereafter, telling People: ‘I’m devastated at the events of the last several days that have been a result of my father’s alcoholism.’

He claimed: ‘I’ve worked tirelessly organizing an intervention and it’s incredibly upsetting that it never came to fruition.’

‘I wanted my dad’s hopeful sobriety and recovery to be a private family matter but, as a result of his accusations on social media, I feel forced to speak out. I have and will continue to cooperate with law enforcement as needed. I love my father and just want to see him sober, happy and healthy.’

Tommy served six months in custody in connection with domestic violence after he pleaded no contest to felony spousal battery in 1998.

Prosecutors in the case said that the rock star had attacked Pamela as she was holding a then-infant Dylan.

Tommy was also married to actress Heather Locklear from 1986 through 1993, and Elaine Bergen from 1984 through 1985.

His engagement to Brittany Furlan culminated in a wedding on Valentine’s Day 2019 and the duo are still married.
