clare crawley defends herself after facing mass criticism over that strip dodgeball group date

Clare Crawley’s first group date was a game of strip dodgeball, which ended with the contestants wearing just a thong on last Tuesday’s episode of The Bachelorette

And despite years of bikini-clad dates on The Bachelor, the 39-year-old reality star is enduring mass criticism for pressuring male contestants to remove their clothing.

After one Twitter user claimed that ‘all heck would break loose’ if women on ABC’s reality dating competition were asked to do the same, Crawley proved her wrong.

‘You mean like this?’ the hairdresser replied with a picture from a topless photo shoot on Juan Pablo’s 2014 season of The Bachelor to promote animal adoption.

In the risqué snap, Bachelorette alum Andi Dorfman preserved her modesty with a white sign, while Lucy Aragon can be seen using her hair to cover her breasts.

Crawley used the snaps as evidence of the show’s long history of planning dates that hypersexualize their contestants, who appear on the franchise searching for love.

Additionally, she ‘liked’ a tweet, which read, ‘Hmmmm it’s almost like making contestants take their clothes off is a really tired production trick and wasn’t your idea at all.’

Over the years, many members of Bachelor Nation have expressed their distain over similar dates, including Peter Weber’s ‘degrading’ pillow fight date earlier this year.

Using the example of Weber’s contestants competing to be the ‘champion in the bedroom’ dressed in lingerie, TV blogger ‘Reality’ Steve Carbone defended Crawley.

Earlier this week, Crawley also shot down allegations that she lied about not going to prom in high school.

After The Bachelorette star revealed that she didn’t have the ‘greatest high school experience’ and wasn’t asked to prom, an Instagram user claimed Clare had actually attended with her husband in 1999.

‘My husband took @clarecrawley to senior prom, @clarecrawley you went to prom,’ Instagram user Boymommerch claimed on the online platform, along with prom photos of Clare and her husband.

The Instagram post was obtained by Reality Steve, who also screen grabbed Clare’s response.

Clare did not back down from her initial claim, noting she didn’t attend prom after moving to a new school her senior year of high school.

‘You do know there is more dances in high school that are NOT Prom? Turns out it’s just someone digging up old photos. (why she keeps her husbands old dance pics I’m not sure) I went to a new school senior year and in fact DID NOT go to prom just like I said.’

Clare’s season of The Bachelorette has only just begun, but it has been at the center of wild rumors for the past few months.

The beauty is rumored to have stepped down as The Bachelorette after falling in love and even becoming engaged to contestant Dale Moss.

It took place in Wales for the first time in the show’s 20-year history after it was forced to relocate amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

And now I’m A Celebrity fans have called for the show to move to Gwrych Castle, Abergele, in northern Wales permanently.

On Friday night, 12 million votes were cast with Giovanna Fletcher, 35, being crowned champion- with the final drawing in one million more than last year.

The show usually takes place in the Australian bush, with celebrities camping in the jungle.

However due to travel restrictions during the pandemic, this has not been possible this year.

Fans have suggested the show should move to the Welsh castle permanently, or alternate years between Wales and Australia.

One fan said: ‘I think #ImACelebrity should stay in the castle because what a bloomin series it has been and one of the best parts, no splitting them up and sending them to different camps. It was the revamp no one knew we needed, but we did! Loved it so so much’

Another wrote: ‘I honestly think this years @imacelebrity has been the best in years!!! Actually enjoyed it being in the Castle rather than the Jungle! Wish they would return to the castle for another series!!! #I’mACelebrity’

A third commented: ‘Can we have #imacelebrity back in the castle next year please @antanddec, this has been the best and funniest series by far’

A viewer said: ‘IT IS THE BEST!!! This has been my favourite series of #ImACelebrity EVER! It should be at this castle every year!!! Wonderful!!!’

Other fans thought it would be better if the series alternated between being in the jungle in Australia and being at the castle.

One wrote: ‘Do think this series in the castle has been really good but I’d prefer it to go back to the jungle, or at least do alternate years from the jungle to the castle, the permanent move could ruin it #imacelebrity #imaceleb’

Another added: ‘I really enjoyed this series, I loved the castle and I hope they do it again. Maybe alternate years. A sense of normality and something to look forward to at the end of the day after a very difficult year. Thank you @imacelebrity #ImACelebrity #ImACeleb #ImACelebFinal’

A third commented: ‘Well I think that’s been the best series of #ImACelebrity ever. The castle gave it an air of something magical. I hope the powers that be consider making it a regular thing, perhaps alternate between Aus and Wales @antanddec @ITV’

It comes as a source told The Sun: ‘The show has been warmly received by a lot of people. Its viewing figures broke records as curious fans tuned in to see how different it looked, and millions stayed.

‘They only had ten weeks to prepare for life in Wales and they’ve pulled it off brilliantly. This shows it could be filmed anywhere but, if the world is open for business as usual next year, they would prefer it to be Oz.

‘So bosses are looking at the feasibility of it staying put for now. Australia is brilliant, and where the show belongs.’

The insider added there was a ‘cost element’ to flying the production team across the world when they now ‘laid a successful blueprint for it in the UK’.

MailOnline has contacted ITV for comment.

Giovanna was named Queen of the Castle during I’m A Celeb’s live finale.

The author went up against Vernon Kay and Jordan North to win the title, and was left in complete shock after it was revealed she’d come out on top after 12 million votes had been cast.

Gushing about her win, she sat on a plush throne and said: ‘I cant believe it, people have picked up their phones and voted. I’m just blown away I cant believe it its been the most amazing experience, ask me in a week!’

Ever gracious in defeat, Jordan said it was: ‘Absolutely fantastic, I couldn’t be runner up to anyone better, the most genuine kindest person I’ve ever met.

Vernon stepped up to crown Giovanna, saying it was his honour to name her the first ever Queen of the Castle as 2019 winner Jacqueline Jossa was unable to attend the ceremony as is usually tradition.

After it was revealed he had come in third, Vernon hugged his competitors and said: ‘Well done you two, I’ve had the best time, you’ve been awesome.’

The Love Island star, 27, stunned in a tiny black and silver printed mini dress which came complete with long netted sleeves.

The blonde beauty protected herself from the winter chill by draping a black cape with a fur collar over her shoulders.

Amy paired the ensemble with sheer black tights and patent black heeled boots.  She accessorised with a black sequin bag and had her nails long, pointed and white.

The stunner left her blonde locks loose around her shoulders and opted for glam make-up.

Earlier this week, Amy revealed she accidentally knocked down her garden wall after crashing her car while arriving back at her family home in Sussex.

The reality star took to her Instagram Stories where she shared a snap of a crumbling wall and her scratched red car following the incident.

Amy wrote; ‘Didn’t get enough swing on the driveway did I.’

The series is a spin off of Ex On The Beach, with the name change coming as the show was filmed in London, after coronavirus travel restrictions prevented it from being filmed abroad.

Celebrities’ past flames will make appearances throughout the series and the tablet of terror is back to stir things up.

The stars will have the awkward decision to chose their blind date or ex for a second date, meaning there will be plenty of drama in store.

Amy found fame on Love Island, when she was unceremoniously dumped by ‘half boyfriend’ Curtis Pritchard, 24, when he developed feelings for other women.

The former British Airways cabin crew member won the heart of the nation when she bowed out of the ITV2 reality series with a dignified speech after being one of the original Islanders.

Dancer Curtis went on to finish the show in fourth place alongside Irish grid girl Maura Higgins with the couple splitting earlier this year.

Ant McPartlin has made a rare comment about his relationship with Anne-Marie Corbett during Friday’s final of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

The TV host, 45, revealed that his ‘happy place’ would be ‘at home with my girlfriend and the kids’ when asked by Jordan North during his nerve-wracking snake trial.

Declan Donnelly also revealed his, cheekily saying it would be Newcastle United football club’s grounds St James’ Park, during the sweet exchange of small talk.

Ant and Anne-Marie have been dating for the past two years, with the duo often being seen out walking their dogs together during lockdown.

TV host Ant has rarely commented on their relationship, but didn’t hesitate to say being with Anne-Marie was his ‘happy place’ during I’m A Celebrity.

The conversation came up as radio host Jordan, 30, who finished the show in second place, tried to distract himself during his trial.

Ensuring to go out with a memorable task, Jordan had to lay entombed in a metal cage while 50 snakes slithered all over him.

In an attempt to make the 10 minutes go by faster, Jordan chatted away to the hosts and asked them random questions as well as for their autographs.

The 30-year-old DJ asked the duo to name their ‘happy place’, telling Ant: ‘You go first.’

He quickly said, ‘at home with my girlfriend and the kids’, which prompted an ‘oh, that’s lovely’ from Jordan as he tried his best to stay composed with the snakes.

I’m A Celebrity viewers loved the emotional comment from Ant, with some saying it had made them a little tearful.

One person said their ‘heart melted’ when Ant said Anne-Marie was his happy place, while another said they were ‘not okay’.

Some people even joked that Dec would in the ‘doghouse’ after he declared St James’ Park as his happy place despite Ant’s emotional answer.

Earlier this year Ant declared that Anne-Marie was one of his ‘greatest loves’ when asked to pick what he valued most in life during a recent interview.

Unable to pick just one thing, Ant reeled off his family, his girlfriend Anne-Marie, her two daughters from a previous relationship, and their dogs Milo and Bumble, jokingly adding Newcastle United football team.

Ant and Anne-Marie were first linked in March, 2018, two months after Ant released a statement to confirm that he had split from wife of 12-years Lisa Armstrong.

Anne-Marie separated from her husband Scott in October 2017, and the pair amicably co-parent their two daughters.

While Lisa and Ant finalised their divorce back in April after their split in January 2018 following the presenter’s highly documented battle with painkillers and alcohol.

Ant and Dec’s latest stint presenting I’m A Celebrity came to an end on Friday night after Giovanna Fletcher was declared Queen of the Castle.

Jordan was awarded second place while Vernon Kay managed to scoop third after entertaining viewers over the past three weeks.
