Dolly Parton still gets asked whether her husband really exists.

The 74-year-old singer has been married to Carl Dean since 1966, but because she keeps her marriage out of the spotlight, Dolly still gets asked if he’s actually real.

She shared: “A lot of people have thought that through the years, because he does not want to be in the spotlight at all.

“It’s just not who he is. He’s like, a quiet, reserved person and he figured if he ever got out there in that, he’d never get a minute’s peace and he’s right about that.”

Dolly has made a concerted effort to keep her husband out of the limelight during her career.

And the Jolene hitmaker insists it’s worked perfectly for the couple.

She told Entertainment Tonight:  “I’ve always respected and appreciated that in him and I’ve always tried to keep him out of the limelight as much as I can.

“He said, ‘I didn’t choose this world, I chose you, and you chose that world. But we can keep our lives separate and together.’ And we do and we have. We’ve been together 56 years, married 54.”

Dolly actually thinks that not being “in each other’s faces” has helped their relationship.

She said: “Our joke about the fact, when people ask me why it’s lasted this long, I say, ‘Because I stay gone.’ And there’s a lot of truth in that – the fact that we’re not in each other’s faces all the time.

“But we do have a great respect and admiration for each other. We both have a great sense of humour. So, we have a lot of fun.”

Asked how they spend their time when they’re together, Dolly explained: “We have very similar tastes … we love to travel around our little RV, and we don’t like parties and all that stuff.”

The glamorous golfer hit back, writing: ‘I get this comment all the time. I want to set the record straight. I have never and will never complain about that.’

‘Just don’t call me a sl*t or a wh**e solely based on the tops I like to wear. It’s not that hard to understand.’

Earlier this week, Greg, 65, went viral after sharing a jaw-dropping photo of himself at the beach in Florida.

However, it wasn’t long before fans noticed the shape of his manhood was clearly visible beneath the folds of his blue boardshorts.

Hilarious reactions to the snap have flooded social media, as fans continue to make cheeky comments and memes about the golfer’s eyebrow-raising display.

natalie bassingthwaighte received vile threat over neighbours storyline

Former Neighbours star Natalie Bassingthwaighte has revealed she was inundated with hate mail for playing Ramsay’s Street’s most infamous homewrecker, Izzy Hoyland.

The 45-year-old actress told Daily Mail Australia how an obsessed fan once sent her a two-page letter saying she deserved to die of incurable disease – ‘preferably cancer’ – simply because her character had an affair with Dr Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher).

‘That was probably the most full-on [item of hate mail] and at the time I was like “Wow, that’s so intense!” but I guess people are just so passionate about the show,’ she said.

‘People are really drawn to the characters and they feel very connected to them. Like, Karl was their dad and Susan was their mum. Everyone felt like it was their mum and dad Izzy was breaking up,’ Natalie explained.

‘You know you’re playing a character and it’s a just a bit of fun, and you’re doing your job and hopefully doing it well, but for some people, they took it to the next level.’

The hate mail did not deter Natalie from returning to the soap in 2018 after a decade-long hiatus, however.

When asked whether she would ever come back for a third run, the mother of two said: ‘Never say never. I did say before I wouldn’t, so you never say never. But at this stage, I’m just looking forward to some really new different exciting adventures.

‘I’m really excited about next year. I cannot wait to share what I’ve been up to in the last little bit. Nothing I can spill the beans on at this point, but I’m excited.’

‘I’ve been fortunate enough that when we weren’t able to do too much [during the coronavirus pandemic] I have quite a good little run the last few months,’ she added.

One of Natalie’s upcoming projects is hosting Australia’s first-ever virtual carols event, called The Bestest Virtual Christmas Carols, in December.

‘I feel like it will bring a real comfort to people who have had a very tough year and have struggled a lot,’ she told Daily Mail Australia.
