Kate Garraway discussed wanting to donate her blood plasma to husband Derek Draper during his coronavirus battle on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday.

The TV host, 53, said she she was ‘desperately researching anything she could do to help’ her husband who remains very sick in hospital.

Co-host Adil Ray, 46, said: ‘On the show last week, you would have seen Kate talking about the potential importance of blood plasma transfusions for the treatment of COVID-19 patients.

‘That day the number of people offering to donate went up 300 per cent.

Kate said: It’s a lovely lovely thing. The process which is similar to giving blood, only takes 45 minutes and can be used to help treat patients who aren’t producing enough of their own antibodies to fight COVID-19.

‘The reason it’s popped up, why I was talking about it, was because when Derek first got sick, I was desperately researching anything I could do to help.

‘I watched him be consumed by the virus despite all the brilliant efforts of those around trying to help him in the NHS.’

She continued: ‘I was told at the time, because it was one of the ideas I had, “what about giving my blood, there are antibodies in my blood because I’ve had it, will that help?” they said no because the trials for it hadn’t really started.

‘I started talking about it last week because I found out that now it is being used which is fantastic.’

Adil said: ‘Kate, I will say this, you’re so inspiring at a time like this.’

Kate replied: ‘I don’t know about that, I feel very emotional about it actually, not just the idea that people are coming forward but that it might save lives.

Adil added: ‘We’re all watching you and how you’re dealing with such a terrible situation and how you’re dealing with it with such grace and positivity. It’s an inspiration, it really is, thank you. How is Derek?’

Kate told co-host Adil Ray: ' I'm hoping to see [Derek] this week. It was a stable day yesterday and I'm learning Adil that stable is sometimes good'

Kate said: ‘ I’m hoping to see him this week. It was a stable day yesterday and I’m learning Adil that stable is sometimes good.

‘What we want is up days but a non down day is something to celebrate as well. It doesn’t necessarily get easier. But good to know things are moving forward, trials are being done and other lives can be saved.’

On Monday, Kate revealed she is reluctant to talk about Derek ‘every week’ on the show as she doesn’t want to upset viewers, but was reassured by Adil that she has been ‘inspiring.’

Kate said Derek ‘is very much still with us,’ but it is still a ‘waiting game’.

The presenter admitted she feels a level of guilt about returning to the job she loves, explaining: ‘You feel almost bad because oh I’m laughing and he’s still there in a minimally conscious state, it’s a difficult balance.’

She continued: 'What we want is up days but a non down day is something to celebrate as well. It doesn't necessarily get easier. But good to know things are moving forward, trials are being done and other lives can be saved'

‘I know everyone has been so lovely and are concerned, but then you don’t want to talk about it on GMB every time because it’s not cheering up everyone,’ she continued.

Kate then admitted that ‘it was a worrying week last week’.’

‘We’ve still got lots of challenges, challenges with food, challenges with everything, with lungs with everything. We just want him to wake up.’

‘The nurses are putting this show on in the morning for him in the hope that might trigger something, but its a waiting game.’

‘I’m lucky I’ve got the chance to wait and he’s still with us and lots of people don’t have that.’

Kate added: ‘I’ve got to keep life going on so Derek has a life to get back to.’

An NHS Blood and Transplant spokesperson told MailOnline on Tuesday: ‘The number of people who have recovered from coronavirus offering to donate plasma was 293% the normal last Monday after Kate spoke about her own desire to donate, following her husband’s illness.

‘We’re really grateful to Kate and Good Morning Britain for covering donation again today because we urgently people to donate now, to help during any second wave.

‘If you’ve had coronavirus, you could saves lives by donating plasma. You could give the NHS the first treatment which actually attacks the virus. Register to donate at www.nhsbt.nhs.uk.’

Orlando Bloom recently became a father again, when fiancée Katy Perry gave birth to daughter Daisy last month.

And the British actor recently breathed a sigh of relief for his family, after Katy was granted a restraining order against her alleged stalker.

However Bloom still seems to be taking his personal safety very seriously, with the Lord of the Rings actor seen carrying what appeared to be a can of mace on his keychain.

Orlando put on a casual dad display Saturday in an oversized printed white t-shirt and a pair of short black running shorts, as he grabbed breakfast for the family in Santa Barbara.

The 43-year-old finished the look with a black baseball cap, matching wayfarer sunglasses, a blue bandana face mask and white kicks.

His outing came after fiancée Katy, 35, was granted a restraining order earlier this week against her alleged stalker William Terry.

William is believed to be homeless and living in a silver Buick sedan, as he’s recently been harassing Katy and her family.

According to court documents filed by the Last Friday Night artist, he’s made ‘death threats on social media,’ including that he wanted to ‘snap Orlando Bloom’s neck,’ and he’s even attempted to enter their home on a few occasions.

She detailed the last instance, which took place September 8: ‘Terry jumped the fence of my home in the Beverly Hills area of Los Angeles.

‘Security ordered Terry to leave. When he refused he was placed under citizen’s arrest and then formally arrested for criminal trespass by the Los Aneles Police Department.’

Another hearing is set for October 8 to make the restraining order permanent, also protecting their entire immediate family.

It should come as a relief to the parents, as they recently welcomed their first child together last month.

The humanitarian agency released a statement on behalf of the parents: ‘We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter.

‘But we know we’re the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was.’

The statement was posted to Unicef’s Instagram, as well as Orlando and Katy’s, accompanied with a sweet black-and-white photo of Daisy’s hand holding mom and dad’s fingers.

They used the opportunity to encourage donations to Unicef, adding: ‘In celebration of the heart we know our daughter already has, we have set up a donation page to celebrate DDB’s arrival.

‘By supporting them, you are supporting a safe start to life and reimagining a healthier world for every child. We hope your [heart emoji] can bloom with generosity.’

bachelorette georgia love talks about her postponed wedding plans

Bachelorette Georgia Love, 31, was forced to cancel her lavish Italian wedding.

And now, the former TV star has spoken about being forced to delay her more recent Tasmanian wedding plans.

Speaking to The Herald Sun this week, she said: ‘We have set a (wedding) date next year and are forging ahead hoping it is going to happen as we want it to.’

Georgia had originally planned on having her dream wedding with Lee in Italy, but the coronavirus pandemic forced the couple to cancel.

‘We had planned an entire wedding for Italy and that has just gone completely out of the window,’ she said.

‘We then planned a wedding for Tasmania and that date has now changed.’

Georgia explained the pair don’t want to plan a third wedding if they have to change their latest plans due to the pandemic.

‘We don’t want to have to plan a third wedding, but if it ends up that we have to postpone it we will do that.’

Despite the wedding plans being in disarray, Georgia has launched a new sleepwear range called Georgia Elliott.

Georgia and Lee got engaged last year. In June, Georgia told the Ben Rob & Robbo revealed the pair had changed the location to Tasmania due to COVID-19.

‘We were planning on a wedding for Italy next year so in 2021,’ she said.

Say ‘I Do’: The television presenter added that even if international travel opens the couple still plan to hold their nuptials in Georgia’s home state of Tasmania instead

‘But we’ve gone back on those plans, so we figured there’s just too many ‘what-ifs’ in the world at the moment.’

The television presenter added that even if international travel opens the couple still plan to hold their nuptials in Georgia’s home state of Tasmania instead.

‘Even if Italy is fine by then we do not want to put it on our family and friends that they have to find the money to do so in such uncertain times with people losing their jobs,’ she added.

Speaking to Who Magazine in June, Georgia admitted that she had already started trying on dresses before the pandemic hit.

‘I’d started dress shopping. I was actually in a bridal boutique when my sister read out on her phone that Scott Morrison was holding a press conference announcing that all restaurants were shutting down,’ she said.

‘I thought, ‘Oh s**t.’ And also, ‘Um, can you concentrate on me in the beautiful white dress?”
