Katie Holmes and her new boyfriend Emilio Vitolo Jr. have been nearly inseparable in recent weeks.

But one person seems particularly unhappy with their new relationship: Emilio’s mother Lourdes.

Sources close to the family say she was furious after the chef ended his previous engagement last month and moved on with the Batman Begins star, Page Six reports.

DailyMail.com confirmed exclusively on September 10 that Emilio, 33, broke off his previous engagement with his live-in fiancée Rachel Emmons, 24, via text when handsy photos of him and Holmes, 41, were first published.

The handbag designer, who had been engaged to the restaurateur for 18 months, was left shocked and scrambling and had to move back home.

‘[Lourdes] thinks she brought him up better than that,’ an insider said. ‘She didn’t like how [Emilio] handled this at all.’

However, another source painted a less rosy portrait of Vitolo and Emmons’ relationship.

‘He and his fiancée were taking it slow, and it wasn’t working out,’ the source said.

According to them, someone like Katie is more his speed.

‘He likes older women,’ they continued. ‘He dated an older anchor at Fox, and others, so he has a history with older women.’

The same insider claimed that neither Katie nor Emilio have particularly sophisticated tastes, suggesting they could be a fit for each other.

‘So it could work out. They’re not, like, discussing books, or art or anything,’ they added.

Representatives for Katie and Emilio’s family couldn’t be reached for comment.

A source close to the situation recently dished to People that Katie is beyond ‘smitten’ with her new love and that she ‘keeps texting him all day long and he loves it.’

He can’t get enough of her attention,’ the source added.

The two often spend time at Emilio’s restaurant, Emilio’s Ballata, which is owned by his father, Emilio Vitolo Sr.,’ while the younger Emilio serves as the chef.

His father is known for occupying a table close to the door and determining what table people will be seated at and in what order.

Despite the insular style, plenty of celebrities have been drawn to the restaurant’s classic Italian dishes, including former President Barack Obama and Hollywood stars Tom Hanks and Bradley Cooper.

Emilio and his actress girlfriend were first linked on September 1, while on an apparent date at the Mediterranean restaurant Antique Garage in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood.

But the romantic nature of their relationship was unveiled later that week, when they were spotted kissing passionately at Manhattan’s Peasant Restaurant.

The relationship seems to be a drastic change from Katie’s previous MO, as she’s been unabashedly open about her new beau.

In contrast, she began dating fellow actor Jamie Foxx, 52, in 2013, but the two kept their relationship private for years until going public at the Met Gala in May 2019, shortly before they broke up.

Prior to coupling up with Foxx, Holmes was married to Hollywood icon Tom Cruise.

The couple began their whirlwind courtship in 2005 and were married in seven weeks.

Katie filed for divorce in 2012, which was finalized after only ten days.

She and Cruise had welcomed their daughter Suri in 2006, who now spends her time with Katie, who has primary custody.

Mischa rocked a black T-shirt with matching denim slacks which were hemmed above her ankles to reveal a pair of brown leather boots.

She added a comfortable jean jacket and black velour purse to her casual ensemble, and made sure to protect herself and others amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic by wearing a blue face mask.

Gian rocked an equally cozy denim ensemble with light wash jeans and a sweater worn underneath a lightweight jacket.

He has been self-isolating with girlfriend Camila Cabello since the pandemic struck the US seven months ago.

But Shawn Mendes appears to have remained active throughout quarantine.

The singer, 22, put his toned biceps on display as he enjoyed a morning stroll in Miami over coffee.

Shawn sported a white tank top, midnight blue shorts and slides as he strode about his girlfriend’s community on his own.

While he was enjoying some alone time, he remained connected with his AirPods, sitting snugly inside his ears.

After years of being on the road, the singer has been embracing his time laying low amid the pandemic.

‘It’s funny, when I got here, it was like the beginning of the album process and I was in a full panic state,’ he recently said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. ‘I was like, “There’s no way I’m going to make music. This is going to be impossible.”

‘But a week goes by and you start cooking eggs in the morning, you start doing laundry and taking dogs for walks, and you have a coffee mug that you use the same one every day, and it just becomes really nice.’

While his new life may seem ‘so normal for everyone else,’ Shawn said it’s been the opposite experience for him.

‘It’s very abnormal for me. I’ve basically been living in hotel rooms since I was 15. So it’s been nice, man, it’s been really nice,’ he explained.

Shawn certainly seems to be enjoying his life in quarantine this past year, and has been seen taking walks around Camila’s community with her.

There was also once speculation Camila was more than just friends with her Fifth Harmony bandmate Lauren Jauregui.

However, Lauren shot those down in a recent interview on Becky G’s podcast En La Sala, where she admitted the rumors made her ‘uncomfortable.’

‘People thought Camila and I were into each other, and that made me so uncomfortable. Like disgustingly so uncomfortable, because I was queer, but she was not. It made me feel like a predator, essentially,’ Lauren explained.

‘It made me feel like a predator because of the type of clips people would put together, the type of stories people would write, and the type of stuff, I was always the aggressor, and I was always the one turning her. I was always the one who was like the “masculine” energy in the scenario, and it made me very uncomfortable because that’s not how I identify. That’s not to say that that’s wrong to identify with that.’

‘I also did not have that connection with her. Camila and I were just very good friends, at that time,’ she said. ‘We respected each other. When each other would talk, we would look at each other. We had love for each other, like genuine friendship.’

‘In the Latinx culture, growing up, I was very affectionate with all of my friends,’ she said. ‘That actually made me so uncomfortable to the point where, I, to this day, hyper-analyze every connection that I have with a girl because I don’t want them to feel like I’m looking at them that way.’

the wiggles vow to make more culturally appropriate music amid pappadum backlash

Australian children’s group The Wiggles have vowed to create ‘culturally appropriate’ music after their song Pappadum went viral on Twitter six years after it was released.

In the video clip from 2014, the group are dressed in traditional Indian clothing while waving pappadums and dancing.

In a statement published by HuffPost Canada, the band explained the intention ‘was for the song to be a celebration’ and said all their future music will be ‘recorded in an authentic way’.

‘We endeavour to deal with members of our community – regardless of age, gender, cultural background, religion, or sexuality – professionally, fairly and respectfully, at all times,’ The Wiggles said.

‘We will endeavour to ensure that our future songs and collaborations are performed and recorded in an authentic and culturally appropriate way.’

The children’s band also explained the ‘intention was for the song to be a celebration not to be culturally insensitive’.

This comes after Blue Wiggles Anthony Field, who wrote the song and directed the clip, apologised for ‘ethnic stereotyping’.

When asked by a Twitter user whether Pappadum was his ‘creative brainchild’, Anthony responded: ‘I wrote the song, and directed the clip in 2014 (which was meant as a celebration).

‘It was not my intention to be culturally insensitive to the Indian community, or to add value to ethnic stereotyping. Apologies.’

‘Worst thing I’ve ever seen’: The footage has been viewed more than one million times and many Twitter users have criticised the stereotypical portrayal of Indian culture

Pappadum became the subject of heated debate on Twitter last week when a woman shared the video and wrote: ‘To be clear, this was not the representation I wanted.’

The clip has since been viewed more than one million times and many Twitter users have criticised the stereotypical portrayal of Indian culture.

But it’s important to note that The Wiggles are children’s entertainers and the way in which they communicate different cultures to their young audience must be simplistic in order to be understood.

As a result, their songs about different cultures may lack nuance when viewed by adults more attuned to matters of racial and cultural sensitivity.

‘This is the worst thing I’ve ever seen. Poor girl just smiling the whole time… why can’t The Wiggles go back to making fruit salad?’ one person wrote, referencing one of the band’s famous songs.

Another said the video used stereotypes and compared it to the group’s song Hot Potato, which they jokingly suggested was ‘anti-Irish’.
