love islands marcel somerville admits he missed pregnant girlfriends baby scan

He recently revealed his girlfriend Rebecca Vieria is pregnant with his first child.

And Marcel Somerville has now said that he was unable to attend his girlfriend’s baby scan due to coronavirus restrictions in place at the hospital.

The Love Island star, 34, was speaking to hosts Bobby Norris and Stephen Leng on Access All Areas about preparing to become a father for the first time.

Marcel, who has been dating Rebecca, 24, for 14 months and explained: ‘I couldn’t go to the first scan because the hospitals weren’t letting the partners in. So that was a bit annoying!’

However they aren’t taking any chances for the gender scan, as he revealed they have booked a private room so that he is able to attend.

He said: ‘We’ve booked a private one for Saturday, so when Saturday comes it’s gonna be like, I get to go in and we’re gonna find out whether we’re having a boy or a girl.’

The pair have decided not to actually find out then and there though, but instead will keep it a surprise a little longer: ‘We’re gonna get an envelope with it in there but we’re not gonna find out because we’re gonna have like a little party and do a gender reveal party!’

Upsetting: The Blazin’ Squad star, 34, also emotionally revealed that the happy news comes one year after Rebecca tragically suffered a miscarriage

Although the reality star has admitted in the past that he has no preference to having a boy or a girl, he confessed to changing his mind: ‘I will always say I’d be happy to have either, as long as they’re healthy and they’re happy, but I feel like I’ve been edging towards a boy!’

Explaining why, he added: ‘I think I’ve got five mates who are having kids at the same time as me. We’re calling them lockdown babies because obviously there’s been nothing else to do during lockdown!

‘I think four of the five are having little boys so there’s going to be one little girl.

‘So I could have a little girl and she could only have one mate that she could really hang around with properly but then I could have a boy and he could have a little gang, a new Blazin’ Squad!’

Marcel announced his girlfriend was expecting their first child in July.

He also emotionally revealed that the happy news comes one year after his influencer girlfriend tragically suffered a miscarriage.

Marcel, who recently nearly died after a scary hospital stint, shared that he discovered he was going to be a father while recording in the studio.

He told OK! Magazine: ‘I was in the studio with my headphones on and she tapped me on the shoulder.

‘She had loads of pregnancy tests in her hand, just to make doubly sure. It was crazy! It’s my first baby and I’ve been waiting a long time for this, so it’s just mad.’

Sweet: It's happy news all-round for the cast of Love Island 2017 as Marcel's co-star and close friend in the villa, Camilla Thurlow, is expecting her first child with beau Jamie Jewitt (pictured on the show)

Marcel and Rebecca have been together for 14 months, they celebrated their one-year anniversary in May. They first met at a London nightclub in 2018.

The couple revealed that they had been trying for a baby for months and it ‘took a little while’ to get pregnant after they tragically suffered a miscarriage.

Marcel shared that their miscarriage happened ‘very early’ in the relationship and that the ordeal brought them closer together.

He told the magazine: ‘We both took it really badly. It took a little while for us to get over it, but it did make us stronger because when you go through something like that, it makes you be there for the other person.’

Talking about the scary incident during the interview, the musician revealed that he has discovered he has Type 1 diabetes and was unknowingly suffering with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).

Diabetic ketoacidosis is a serious complication of diabetes that occurs when your body produces high levels of blood acids called ketones.

The former Blazin’ Squad star gave an update from his hospital bed in June after being admitted with ‘violent vomiting and passing out’.

Marcel shared that it had been a ‘very hard few days’ and being rushed to hospital was the ‘worst’ moment of his life.

The musician shared a video of himself hooked up to wires in a hospital bed as he candidly shared: ‘It’s been a very, very hard few days for me. Thursday was literally the worst day of my life. I nearly died.’

What is diabetic ketoacidosis?

Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a serious complication of diabetes that occurs when your body produces high levels of blood acids called ketones.

DKA was first described in 1886 and, until the introduction of insulin therapy in the 1920s, it was almost universally fatal.

Today the risk of death with adequate and timely treatment is currently around one to four per cent.

Symptoms of a DKA episode include nausea and vomiting, pronounced thirst, excessive urine production and abdominal pain.

According to figures just four per cent of people with type 1 diabetes develop DKA each year.

Marcel then thanked fans for their prayers and blessings, he emotionally added: ‘Keep sending them my way because I need them, thank you so much, big love, Marce.’

In June, it was reported that Marcel had been rushed to hospital amid fears he had  contracted COVID-19, which he has now discovered was actually Diabetic Ketoacidosis.

The former Blazin’ Squad star was admitted to hospital after ‘violet vomiting and passing out’, according to OK!.

A source told the news outlet: ‘Marcel has been feeling unwell for a few days and didn’t have any energy. One day he vomited violently and then passed out.

‘He’s been admitted to hospital and has a fever and is still feeling weak. He’s been in hospital for two days and they’re still awaiting test results to rule out coronavirus.’

MailOnline contacted a representative of Marcel Somerville for comment at the time.

Amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, the reality star has been spending his time in lockdown with his stunning girlfriend Rebecca.

While she did not publicly speak of her beau’s hospitalisation, Rebecca did take to her Instagram Stories to repost his most recent snap on the image-sharing platform, along with the caption: ‘Love you.’

Marcel and Rebecca celebrated their one-year anniversary in May, with the muscle-bound musician posting a touching tribute to his belle on social media.

Sharing a snap of himself planting a kiss on Rebecca’s cheek, he wrote: ‘Happy Anniversary @rebeccavieirax my sweetness! Mad spending our anniversary on lockdown but there’s no one in the world I’d rather be spending 24/7 with mama.

‘Love you so much! We’ve had a mad year, if they only knew! But we’re here about to start the next 365 Let’s Go, I’m so ready.’

For her part, Rebecca uploaded an image of the pair posing for a selfie together in a car, as she stated: ‘Our First Ever Anniversary…

‘It’s been probably the hardest year ever but throughout it all you have been by me and held me up, when I almost lost myself God sent me you and I look at you as a blessing everyday..

‘Anniversary in quarantine but your still making every second special, since midnight actually…❤️ ready for the future my life @marcel_rockyb…❤️.’

regina king wins lead actress at the 2020 emmy awards urges viewers to vote

Regina King was sure to make a political statement as she won big at the Emmy Awards on Sunday night.

Regina, 49, won the lead actress in a limited series award for the HBO superhero show Watchmen, in which she stars as lead character Angela Abar.

Wearing a T-shirt honoring Breonna Taylor – the Louisville EMT who was fatally shot by police on March 13 – King also urged viewers at home to vote and gave a shout out to the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

King said from her home: ‘Have a voting plan. Go to Ballotpedia. Vote up the ballot. Please. Go to Ballotpedia and find out who are voting in your municipal elections. It is very important. Be a good human. Rest in power RBG.’

Ginsburg, the Former Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, died on Friday, and King gave her respects by saying ‘rest in power RBG’ during her short speech.

King’s show Watchmen lead the charge with a whopping 26 nominations on the night, primarily in the limited series categories.

The eerily prescient comic book adaptation that debuted last October confronts historic US racism, police violence and even mask-wearing. It also wowed critics and audiences alike.

Watchmen speaks so specifically in so many unprecedented ways to the moment in which we’re living right now,’ said Hill.

‘I think people will probably get pretty tired of hearing Watchmen’s name getting called… it’s as much of a lock as we have right now.’

With HBO’s record-breaking Emmys juggernaut Game of Thrones having finally mounted a dragon and soared off to Westeros, the awards in the drama series categories promise to be more fiercely contested this year.

‘It’s a relief for HBO that they have Succession hitting at the right time,’ said Deadline awards columnist Pete Hammond.

The critically adored show about a powerful family’s back-stabbing battle for control of a dynastic media empire won a writing Emmy in its first season, and has amassed 18 nominations this time.

Jennifer Aniston and Tracee Ellis Ross dazzle at the Staples Center in LA during virtual Emmy Awards

The Emmys looked very different this year as nominees set up cameras in their homes to virtually attend the event amid the coronavirus pandemic.

But that didn’t stop the biggest names in television getting glammed up to the nines on Sunday for the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards, determined to make the occasion feel special from the comfort of their living rooms, offices and kitchens.

While A-listers were invited to trade gowns and tuxedos for pajamas – Jennifer Aniston pulled out all the stops when she appeared, in-person, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Aniston – who is nominated for her role in The Morning Show – sashayed down a hall covered in golden Emmy Awards as she kicked off the show alongside Jimmy Kimmel.

The Friends alum teamed her low-cut slinky black gown with statement silver jewelry and some strappy heels.

Arriving to present an award, Tracee Ellis Ross glittered in a plunging gold gown with dramatic ruffled skirt.

The 47-year-old Black-ish star flashed some leg with a perfectly placed thigh-high slit.

This year’s Emmys honoring the best in television promise to be radically different as producers scramble to create Hollywood’s first major pandemic-era awards show.

The coronavirus has turned Tinseltown upside down, bringing productions to a halt even as stay-at-home orders around the world send binge-watching through the roof.

Late night funnyman Kimmel hosts the 72nd Emmys live on Sunday from an empty theater in Los Angeles with winners beaming in from the safety of their homes due to Covid-19.

Adding to the unpredictability on a night of firsts, 130-odd nominees who were sent cameras to hook up in their own living rooms have been encouraged to get creative with their speeches.

‘Ratings have been flagging for award shows for years… This is, if nothing else, an opportunity to mix things up, to do an award ceremony in a way unlike any other that’s been done,’ said IndieWire TV awards editor Libby Hill.

‘Even if Sunday night is a complete disaster, it’s at least going to be an interesting disaster. And that’s really all you ask for in 2020.’

The critically adored show about a powerful family’s back-stabbing battle for control of a dynastic media empire won a writing Emmy in its first season, and has amassed 18 nominations this time.

But it is tied with Ozark, a dark money-laundering tale set in the American heartland from Netflix, which despite landing a record 160 nominations this year is still desperate to win its first major series Emmy.

Lurking in the background are British royals saga The Crown and Star Wars tale The Mandalorian, which boasts lavish Thrones-esque production values and has already scooped five Emmys in technical categories this week for newcomer Disney+.

Comedy this year appears to be a toss-up between previous serial winner The Marvelous Mrs Maisel- Amazon’s quirky tale of a 1950s housewife who becomes a standup comic – and Schitt’s Creek.

The latter, a Canadian comedy about a privileged family forced to live in a rundown motel, failed to earn a single nomination in its first four years, but became a sleeper hit after airing on Netflix and signed off with a heartwarming final season.

Aside from the awards themselves, the night will honor the career achievement of Tyler Perry.

The African-American entertainment mogul has championed greater diversity in Hollywood, and this year paid funeral costs for black victims of police violence including George Floyd.

towies yazmin oukhellou reveals she would marry her on off beau james lock if he proposed tomorrow

TOWIE‘s Yazmin Oukhellou has revealed she would marry her on-off boyfriend James Lock if he proposed tomorrow.

The reality star, 26, and her boyfriend, 33, recently confirmed they had rekindled their rocky romance after going their separate ways last year after two years together.

Yazmin dumped Lockie over claims he had cheated on her while they were on a romantic holiday together in Turkey, and has said she still doesn’t trust him but wouldn’t say ‘no’ if he popped the question.

Speaking to The Sun, the brunette beauty said: ‘We are trying to take things really slow but I know what I am like.

‘I do love him and if he did propose to me I would say yes and marry him.

‘I still don’t trust him but I do trust him more this time, which is strange because he messed up. But I do believe he has changed.’

Yazmin also revealed that the couple are now having weekly therapy sessions via Zoom after starting during lockdown, which is helping get their broken relationship back on track.

‘I think everyone should get therapy. James has seen me get therapy and seen such a positive change in me.

‘I have to give myself some credit to say I have been really working on myself a lot since we broke up.’

She added that her family and friends around her are still sceptical about the reunion but that she needs to ‘prove everyone wrong’.

It comes after Yazmin lifted the lid on her reunion with James during last Sunday night’s episode of The Only Way Is Essex.

She spoke to Bobby Norris and Nicole Bass about how she ditched her gal pal Amber Turner while on holiday to enjoy a romantic reunion with her then ex James.

Bobby quizzed Yazmin on their relationship and told her he’d heard ‘through the grapevine’ she had left Amber at a beach club and jetted off to meet James.

Confronting Yaz over the situation, he said: ‘What I’ve heard through the Essex grape vine is that you skanked Amber at a beach club and jetted off to Mallorca to meet Lockie.’

Attempting to explain herself, she retorted: ‘So I was on my first girls’ holiday ever with Amber in Ibiza and I think that kind of, not worried James a little bit…

‘But he thought God she’s moving on with her life and he was messaging me every day like come out here, so I took the first flight out to Mallorca.’

Appearing happy with herself, she told Bobby: ‘And I’ve got to say it was the best decision I’ve ever made.’

Although the TOWIE gang have been separated due to lockdown, their is still drama brewing in Brentwood, as Amber tries to get to the bottom of Lockie’s intentions with Yaz now they are back together.

Soon after lockdown travel restrictions were lifted last month, Yazmin and James, who were together for two years, were seen kissing at a beach club in Mallorca.

They looked as loved up as ever, showing signs they were on the road to returning to a fully fledged romance, with a source saying ‘sparks are flying’ between them.

At the time a source told The Sun: ‘They’re not officially back together but they’re getting closer and everyone around them wouldn’t be surprised if they got back together.

‘They’re getting along really well and sparks are flying – it’s like the old days. They’re on holiday with a large group of people but they’re really reconnecting.’
