miley cyrus details the wild night of partying which inspired her song midnight sky

She’s the former child star whose wild life of partying has been documented feverishly over the years.

But Miley Cyrus has now admitted that her new song Midnight Sky was inspired by a raucous bender which took place shortly before lockdown commenced in March.

Speaking on Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa breakfast show on Monday, the American superstar, 27, explained she forced herself to go home after catching a glimpse of her ‘horrible, sweaty and flat’ appearance.

Addressing Midnight Sky’s lyrics ‘it’s been a long night and the mirror’s tellin’ me to go home’, Miley explained that it was ‘inspired by one of the last nights she went out before the Corona[virus] craziness and lockdown.’

Miley star said: ‘I went and performed at the Morrison hotel anniversary with The Doors.

‘I ended up going out that night, and I went to take a picture because there was so many icons, Billy Idol, all these legends.

‘I go to take a picture, and it was on selfie-style. With all this partying, I looked horrible, sweaty and flat, mascara dripping down my face and I thought well it’s time to go home!’ she said.

The former Disney Channel star famously shed her wholesome girl-next-door image in 2013, opting for a series of sexually provocative outfits, outrageous behaviour and wild nights of partying.

Miley’s love life has also proven to be dramatic with her recently parting ways from Australian model Cody Simpson.

In 2019, her marriage to hunky actor Liam Hemsworth ended for good following their long term on/off relationship which first began in 2010.

The Hannah Montana star also had a very brief and public relationship with Kaitlynn Carter.

Meanwhile, on the Australian radio show, Miley also spoke passionately about the importance of voting in the next United States presidential election.

She said: ‘Listen I’m 27 and I know I’ve never experienced an election this important in my life and hopefully not again in my lifetime.

‘I can’t express the importance enough, especially if young people getting out there and being active and making sure that their friends, their family are voting and have the information about whether it’s mailing in, about the state of our country right now.

‘It’s just crucial that we get out there and make changes and we have someone fit for the job of running our country.’

When asked if she thought US President Donald Trump would stay in office for another four years, Miley explained: ‘I think young people are really stepping up to the plate, really taking charge and getting mobilised working and advocating tirelessly.

‘I think that you know it’s kind of rock bottom here right now. I think it’s desperate times, I think people will really step up.

‘I don’t believe in “don’t worry and be happy”, I believe that worry is healthy. Worry is why we are washing our hands, wearing our masks, keeping our distance. I believe in realism and not saying everything is going to be okay,’ Miley concluded.

I survived Pete Evans’ new Evolve Health Labs clinic in Byron Bay: Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy review

Pete Evans’ new Evolve Health Labs has been the source of immense speculation, and derision, before it even opened its doors.

During my recent trip to Byron Bay, I visited Pete’s new facility located in the Habitat Lifestyle Precinct on Bayshore Drive.

The brand new clinic has a cryotherapy chamber, a hyperbaric treatment chamber, a room for localised cryo treatments, and another for red light therapy.

Two years ago, I would have been writing a review on a delicious paleo dish by the former MKR judge, but now I’m volunteering to be a guinea pig of Pete Evans’ newest passion – ‘a new era wellbeing centre providing holistic treatments’.

On arrival, the spacious foyer had a large Evolve sign with Pete’s name below it.

Elsewhere, on shelves with crystals, the chef-turned-conspiracy theorist’s famous face and name were on products and books for sale.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

As I’d previously used a cryo chamber in Sydney to successfully aid in my recovery time while training for a half marathon in 2018, I focused my attention on the procedure I hadn’t seen or tried before – Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT).

The sci-fi sounding name already made me feel nervous, and seeing the chamber didn’t do much to calm them: it’s basically a tent with multiple tubes that attach to a machine with pressure gauges and intense-looking buttons.

It’s the only treatment on Evolve’s new website that doesn’t have an in-depth explanation of its desired outcomes. It states: ‘Hyperbaric treatments gently place the body under increased pressure in an oxygen-saturated environment. This treatment method is used worldwide by many leading health professionals.’

Going in: Hyperbaric oxygen therapy allegedly increases the amount of oxygen a person’s blood can carry. A constant air pressure is maintained in Evolve's mild chamber (similar to below sea level conditions) as near-pure 100% oxygen is administered via a mask

When asking what benefits I may achieve from the experience, the staff were reluctant to give me specific, guaranteed benefits, instead vaguely assuring me that the benefits were wide ranging. In my own independent research it has been linked to temporarily restoring normal levels of blood gases and tissue function to promote healing and fight infection. It’s also favoured by many celebrities, such as singer Justin Bieber, Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps and the late Michael Jackson.

I signed a waiver acknowledging the potential temporary and permanent side effects (oxygen poisoning/toxicity, middle ear injuries and changes in vision are a few listed) before stepping into the deflated chamber with an oxygen mask securely fitted over my face. The technician zipped me in before inflating the capsule.

There are no hospital booties or special clothing required to use the HBOT at Pete’s facility, and I was allowed to bring in my phone and get comfortable with a pillow and blanket. I was told people often fall asleep in the chamber, but I was far too anxious and on edge to get to that state of relaxation.

As the chamber began to expand with loud whooshing noises from the vents, I couldn’t help but find myself distracted by the caution signs and flickering pressure gauges.

It took less than 10 minutes inside the purpose-built ‘body bag’ for me to wonder if I’d also leave in one.

I’m the first to admit that statement sounds overly dramatic, but hear me out. I was genuinely scared at first by the futuristic-looking therapy.

Only in the past few weeks, I watched an episode of horror TV series Hannibal, where one of these machines caught on fire and incinerated the woman inside due to a static charge. I was assured it couldn’t happen with their mild chamber as potential fire hazards occur in medical grade facilities where the chambers use 100% oxygen and the air pressures is far greater.

Nonetheless I tried to remain still, as I thought: ‘Maybe I should have told my sister I put her down as my emergency contact.’ While my brain continued to wander, I wondered ‘should air taste like this? Does air even have a taste?’. I chose to accept the noises, close my eyes, take big, deep breaths through the oxygen mask and give the technician a brave thumbs-up as she checked on me intermittently throughout the treatment. Putting aside my anxious state and overactive imagination, the treatment was uneventful and painless, although I did experience a build up of pressure in my ears, similar to the sensation in an airplane.

After an hour, I emerge relaxed and clear headed. I also felt a little lighter on my feet, but perhaps it was a sense of relief, both mentally and physically. I survived. I also found falling to sleep easier that night, however it’s unclear if that was a direct result of the treatment or a placebo affect.

While studies support the effectiveness of hyperbaric oxygen therapy when used to help treat various medical conditions, individual results may vary.

While Pete Evans’ name is mentioned numerous times by staff and clients during my visit, the business appears to be more hands-on for his wife,  Nicola Robinson. Nicola was friendly and genuinely excited to share the benefits of the clinic’s methods to new and returning clients.

She administered my cryogenic ‘penguin facial’, and set me up on a ‘healing bed’ with a heated biomat fitted with amethyst crystals. Wrapped snug in a blanketed cocoon, Nicola used the cryo wand to beam vaporized liquid nitrogen across my forehead, cheeks, nose and chin.

WHAT IS A HYPERBARIC CHAMBER AND HOW IS IT USED?

A hyperbaric chamber is a highly-pressurized room or tube where a patient is given pure oxygen to breathe.

The air pressure in these chambers is three times higher than normal pressure outside.

Lungs operate on gas exchange, which happens more or less efficiently at different pressures.

At this higher air pressure, the lungs are able to take in more oxygen than under normal conditions.

All the body’s tissues require oxygen to live and stay healthy, so in a hyperbaric chamber the lungs take in more oxygen which is then carried throughout the body to restore tissues that may be struggling or infected.

Oxygen also help to reduce inflammation and encourage new blood vessels to grow.

WHAT ARE HYPERBARIC CHAMBERS USED TO TREAT?

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a proven treatment for decompression sickness, a condition that some people develop after SCUBA diving, wherein the high pressure of being deep under water causes nitrogen to form in their blood vessels.

This typically causes muscle and joint aches and fatigue, but in rare cases can prove fatal. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy reverses the process that allows the dangerous nitrogen bubbles to form.

According to the Mayo Clinic, doctors may also recommend hyperbaric oxygen therapy for:

  • Anemia, severe
  • Brain abscess
  • Bubbles of air in your blood vessels (arterial gas embolism)
  • Burn
  • Decompression sickness
  • Carbon monoxide poisoning
  • Crushing injury
  • Deafness, sudden
  • Gangrene
  • Infection of skin or bone that causes tissue death
  • Non-healing wounds, such as a diabetic foot ulcer
  • Radiation injury
  • Skin graft or skin flap at risk of tissue death
  • Vision loss, sudden and painless

Although claims have been made that the therapy helps a whole hosts of other medical issues, there is only scientific evidence to support the above uses.

There isn’t significant reason to believe it treats conditions like fibromyalgia, depression or chronic fatigue syndrome.

He’s been traveling without his family in recent weeks as he’s continued to run a doomed third-party presidential campaign.

And Kanye West continued his travels on Friday as he touched down in Haiti where he participated in local celebrations.

The 43-year-old rapper was pictured joining a large group dance and even spitting out some bars from behind a mask while taking in the sites.

Kanye had previously spent some time in nearby Jamaica before flying over to Haiti.

The rapper landed at Hugo Chávez International Airport in Cap-Haïtien in the country’s northern area, where he ran into tennis star Naomi Osaka, the Miami Herald reported.

He was met there by President Jovenel Moise, who gave him a tour of the island.

Kanye was pictured in Instagram videos enjoying the music and dancing at one celebrating, though it wasn’t clear if it was thrown in his honor.

He tried to capture the action on his phone, before getting up to join the dancers.

Kanye was dressed casually for the get-together in a white graphic shirt and black track pants with thick beige stripes running down the legs.

Another video showed him freestyling a rap while surrounded by a crowd.

He appeared to have joined a group of drummers and flutists, though his bars couldn’t be understood in the short clip.

He had his phone in front of him, possibly to read off existing lyrics.

The Monster rapper didn’t mention his reasons for visiting Haiti, but he did share twitter posts on Saturday indicating he was interested in the country because of its history of overthrowing French colonialists.

‘Haiti is where our people started the first revolution that freed us from slavery,’ he wrote in one tweet that included a paint of Haitians battling the French.

Shortly afterward, he posted another tweet with a photo of his own showing a crowd of people gawking at him.

‘WE ARE HERE TO COMPLETE THE REVOLUTION,’ he wrote. ‘WE ARE ARE BUILDING THE FUTURE.’

However, Haiti’s Tourism Ministry announced that the musician would be visiting a plant breeding center in the northwest part of the island that was being launched by the president.

He was also expected to stop by the port of Labadee and Tortuga Island.

Kanye was only accompanied by his entourage on the trip, and his wife Kim Kardashian, 39, and their four children weren’t included.

Last week, sources told Us Weekly that Kim was ‘deeply disappointed and sad’ because of her husband’s ongoing mental health issues.

‘Being isolated and alone essentially in his head isn’t healthy for Kanye,’ an insider said.

They confirmed that the producer hadn’t been adhering to the care plane that he and Kim agreed on, though she ‘isn’t surprised’ by that development and partly blames it on the ongoing pandemic.

Although she was able to overlook his erratic tweets, it was ‘the mood swings and the manic episodes [that] are extremely difficult for Kim to help Kanye cope with.’

Kanye had previously been staying isolated at his Wyoming ranch, and after taking a family vacation he’s gone back to traveling on his own.

Kanye and Kim share four children: North, seven, Saint, four, Chicago, two, and Psalm, 16 months.

The radio titan announced his shock split from his girlfriend-of-eight-years on The Kyle and Jackie O Show in November last year.

He told listeners the couple ‘haven’t been living with each other’ for months and their relationship had simply ‘run its course’.

‘We haven’t been with each other for quite a few months now. Unfortunately it’s run its course,’ he said.
