Pregnant Rochelle Humes has revealed she once tried to ‘scrub her skin off’ after receiving racist abuse when she was a child.

The This Morning presenter, 31, broke down in tears as she discussed the ordeal in a trailer for Channel 4’s new documentary about race The Talk that was released on Monday.

Sitting next to her husband Marvin Humes, 35, the singer cried as she said: ‘My legs were red, because I’d tried to scrub my skin off.

‘I’m not upset for me, I’m just upset because I think my little girl is the same age. I just don’t know how I would handle that.’

Sharing the clip on Instagram the mother-of-two penned: ‘Opening up about racism and my challenges was overwhelming as it reminded me that we still live in a world where racism is normalised and accepted.

‘I don’t want my children growing up in a world where they think that their heritage and skin colour could be judged negatively. That’s why I was so emotional, not for me, but for every child or person who has been made to feel like they were not enough because of their skin colour.

‘So I allowed myself to open up and be vulnerable about this topic publicly to help support others through shared experience and also educate people on the lasting impact racism and discrimination can have on people.’

The former Saturdays singer shares daughters Alaia-Mai, seven, and Valentina, three, with husband Marvin, who listened attentively as she spoke in the clip.

Back in June Rochelle and Marvin spoke candidly to their followers about the importance of having conversations surrounding racism following the death of George Floyd in the US.

The couple shared the video to their respective Instagram pages in place of their ‘Stay Home With The Humes’ Friday night disco.

Rochelle stressed how important it is for their children to know they are ‘enough’ and how they want them to be ‘proud’ of their heritage.

Marvin began: ‘Hey guys how you doing? Normally we’d be getting ready for our Stay Home With The Humes House Party, but it just doesn’t feel right. It has been a massive few days around the world after the tragic killing of George Floyd.’

The JLS singer continued: ‘And of course Black Out Tuesday that happened this week as well.’ Rochelle then shared: ‘Initially we were quite sceptical about Black Out Tuesday.’

Rochelle continued: ‘We thought it can’t just be one day. It can’t be one week, one month. It needs to be a conversation that keeps happening. But I think it’s been far more positive than we could have hoped.’

Marvin went on: ‘Definitely, we’ve seen so many people that follow us, people we follow, friends, family, work colleagues take time this week and understand the challenges other communities face at the hands of racism.’

Rochelle then said: ‘It’s been a beautiful thing. Previously these conversations might have made people feel uncomfortable. Maybe innocently not wanting to say the wrong thing. We’ve seen that with friends.’

Marvin continued: ‘I’m in a WhatsApp group with five other white guys, I’m the only black guy in the group and one of them opened up a conversation about race and he shared his experiences growing up and what he’s seen and we had a lengthy conversation on the group. And it was a conversation that would have never happened if we hadn’t had the events of the last week.’

The mum-of-two then said: ‘And sadly an innocent man died so we can have these conversations. It breaks my heart. ‘It’s the unthinkable. Sadly it’s not just one incident, it’s been going on for generations.’

Little Mix singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock, 28, will also star on the show alongside her parents.

In her interview, she said: ‘I got told, ‘You’re the black girl, you’ve got to work ten times harder’.

‘I just wish that I knew more back then, I just wish that I was more educated on this and I knew that, yeah, your race will hold you back a little bit. I just wish I knew that so I could prepare myself.’

Last month Leigh-Anne shared an emotional video about her own experiences with racism.

She took to Instagram to share the heartbreaking message as she candidly spoke about her own experiences and anxiety battle.

Leigh-Anne, whose bandmates are Jesy Nelson, Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall, tearfully admitted that she feels ‘invisible’ at times in the group.

The star also shared that she always feels like the ‘least favoured’ and has to work ‘ten times harder’ in Little Mix.

Leigh-Anne said during the five minute video: ‘My reality is feeling anxious before fan events and signings because I always feel like I’m the least favoured.

‘My reality is constantly feeling like I have to work ten times harder and longer to make my case in the group, because my talent alone isn’t enough. My reality is all the times I felt invisible within my group.

‘Part of me is fully aware that my experience would have been ever harder to deal with had I been dark-skinned. Our reality is no matter how far you think you’ve come, racism exists.

‘So let’s all continue to speak up on racism and keep this movement going. Thank you.’

The Talk airs on Channel 4 on August 4 at 10pm.

90 day fiances ashley martson and jay smith split call it quits for good

After several attempts to salvage their marriage, Ashley Martson and Jay Smith revealed they have split ‘for good’ in a lengthy Instagram statement.

The couple, who starred on the sixth season of 90 Day Fiancé, previously filed for divorce eight months after tying the knot and, most recently, in April 25.

‘Before the stories get all misconstrued I will just address it myself,’ the 34-year-old TLC star wrote. ‘Jay and I have made the decision to separate for good. I thought I was stronger and more forgiving but I’m not.’

She continued: ‘Sometimes when trust is broken, it just cannot be repaired. I wish Jay the best and we are both on the same page with this.

Martson clarified that ‘no one cheated,’ but she couldn’t get over the past’ and feels ‘heartbroken,’ after giving her ‘all to this marriage.’

‘This isn’t how I envisioned my future. We want to thank everyone who has supported us and were rooting for us,’ she added.

Additionally, the reality star apologized to her ‘close friends and family’ learning the news on social media, since she didn’t have the ‘strength to talk about it’ yet.

‘Please forgive me,’ she wrote to her 380,000 followers, while sharing a quote, which read: ‘Sometimes things just don’t work out, and it’s not anyone’s fault. It’s just the way things are.’

The couple met in Smith’s home country of Jamaica, where Martson was staying at a resort for a friend’s wedding.

Though she didn’t expect to hear from him again, he tracked her down on social media and proposed six months later, upon her next visit.

There were rumors that he had reportedly cheated on her just one day after they tied the knot in Las Vegas.

US Weekly previously shared a fan account’s repost of a comment Jay wrote about the cheating rumors.

'Please forgive me,' she wrote to her 380,000 followers, while sharing a quote, which read: Sometimes things just don't work out, and it's not anyone's fault. It's just the way things are'

He had written in a now-expired Instagram story: ‘Fyi: for everyone coming at me i wasn’t the only one who was “talking” aka “cheating” with other people during our relationship/marriage.’

Upon her first divorce filing in January 2019, she ‘withdrew her filing less than two weeks after submitting the paperwork,’ according to US Weekly.

Then in April 2019, she filed for a second time and took out a restraining order against him. By July, she withdrew her divorce filing and the protective order.

‘I feel, like, if you have trouble in your marriage or your relationship and you choose to try it again, you have to tell yourself before you get back in that relationship that ‘the past is the past,’ Martson explained on YouTube in March.

At the time, she noted: ‘You chose to forgive for what they did in the past.’

Malin shared additional snaps from the spa with her pal, Karley, as they both donned white robes and let their natural beauty shine through by choosing to go makeup-free.

The spa outing comes after Malin recently put on a defiant display in navy lingerie on Instagram as she told fans she had ‘finally realised my worth’ after having her ‘confidence stripped’.

The caption appeared to refer to her ex Tom, 29, who was jailed ten months after admitting the attack, which broke Malin’s hand, despite previously branding her ‘a liar’.

The TV star accused ‘narcissistic’ Tom of being abusive in Instagram posts last year.

But her ex-boyfriend from Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, denied the claims at the time.

Malin and Tom had an on-off romance, splitting briefly during her pregnancy, amid claims he had been unfaithful to her, but reconciling shortly before the birth.

Their baby daughter, Consy, was born seven weeks premature in December 2018 and was being treated at Great Ormond Street hospital, but sadly passed away aged four weeks on 22 January, 2019.

They split again last March, with Malin admitting it was better to end things between them as she and her partner struggled with their grief.

Malin now wrestles with PTSD, after the abusive relationship left her mental health and self-esteem in tatters.

She told The Sun: ‘You just feel helplessness, hopelessness, sadness, depression, anxiety. The emotional abuse stays with you a lot longer than the physical. It takes a long, long time to heal.’

holliday grainger cradles her bump as she prepares to move out of london flat

Moving house can be a stressful ordeal, especially when carrying a precious cargo.

But Holliday Grainger appeared to take setting up a new family home in her stride, even with a pronounced baby bump.

The Capture star was spotted last week with boyfriend Harry Treadaway moving out of their three-bedroom flat in North London.

Despite her pregnancy, 32-year-old Holliday happily mucked in, ferrying folders and bags from the property to a waiting removal lorry, a hefty bunch of keys around her neck.

At one point, she paused and cradled her bump while 36-year-old Harry, her partner of five years, packed their belongings, including artwork featuring him topless.

Holliday, who plays Detective Inspector Rachel Carey in The Capture, is expecting her first child early next year.

It is thought her pregnancy has stalled production of the second series of the popular crime drama, after it was announced in June that it had been recommissioned.

The actress is currently on our screens in the BBC1 series Strike: Lethal White, the four-part adaptation of J. K. Rowling’s detective books, written under the name Robert Galbraith. Holliday plays private detective Cormoran Strike’s assistant Robin Ellacott.

She also appeared as Lucrezia Borgias in The Borgias, a TV drama set in Renaissance-era Italy.

While she is famously tight-lipped about her romance with Harry, who played Princess Margaret’s toyboy Roddy Llewellyn in The Crown, she did once say that the pair enjoy spa weekends away and revealed that he collects heart-shaped pebbles for her.

His twin brother Luke is also an actor, currently starring in ITV epic The Singapore Grip, and the brothers have been making music together during the pandemic. The twins lived together until Luke married actress Ruta Gedmintas in 2017. His wife was in The Borgias TV mini-series in 2011 with Holliday and is one of her closest friends.

Holliday is also very close friends with Vanessa Kirby, who starred as Princess Margaret in The Crown, and Jenna Coleman, star of ITV’s Victoria.

The Mancunian actress made her name in 2012 when she played the leading role of Estella in Mike Newell’s film adaptation of Great Expectations, opposite Jeremy Irvine and Helena Bonham Carter.

She also played Lady Chatterley in a 2015 BBC adaptation of Lady Chatterley’s Lover.
