tottenham defender serge auriers brother is shot dead at 5am outside a nightclub in toulouse

Tottenham star Serge Aurier’s brother, Christopher, was shot dead at 5am this morning and his killer is still on the run.

His brother was fatally wounded in the early hours after being shot in Toulouse outside a nightclub and he was pronounced dead in hospital, according to Le Point and Europe 1.

Local residents called the police after finding a man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his stomach.

The victim is understood to be Christopher Aurier, brother of the Spurs full-back Serge, who had played in his side’s 2-1 north London derby win over Arsenal only hours earlier.

The French authorities have launched an investigation with the perpetrator still at large.

Christopher was also a footballer, in the fifth division with Toulouse Rodeo.

Like Serge, he came through the ranks at RC Lens but did not make the breakthrough to the highest level.

In 2017 he had a scrape with the law after being arrested for allegedly stealing from a sex worker in Lille.

Michael Schumacher ‘is in a vegetative state and not responding’, claims neurosurgeon

michael schumacher is in a vegetative state and not responding claims neurosurgeon

Formula One legend Michael Schumacher is likely to be in a vegetative state and there is little chance of him ever making a full recovery, according to renowned neurosurgeon Erich Riederer.

The German suffered devastating brain injuries in a skiing accident back in 2013 while on holiday in the French Alps and his condition has been closely guarded by his family.

Last week ex-Ferrari boss Jean Todt said Schumacher, 51, was still battling to get better.

This has raised the hopes of his millions of fans but Riederer, who is not personally connected with Schumacher and was giving an opinion as an outsider, has offered a more bleak opinion of the prognosis.

Speaking on a documentary on French television station TMC, he said: ‘I think he’s in a vegetative state, which means he’s awake but not responding.

‘He is breathing, his heart is beating, he can probably sit up and take baby steps with help, but no more.

‘I think that’s the maximum for him. Is there any chance of seeing him like he was before his accident? I really don’t think so.’

It is not known whether Riderer has visited Schumacher himself or what information he is basing his opinion on.

Riderer’s interview came days after Todt revealed he had recently visited the seven-time world champion at his home.

He said: ‘I saw Michael last week. He is fighting.

‘My God, we know he had a terrible and unfortunate skiing accident which has caused him a lot of problems.

‘But he has an amazing wife next to him, he has his kids, his nurses, and we can only wish him the best and to wish the family the best, too.

‘All I can do is to be close to them until I am able to do something, and then I will do it.’

Schumacher was in a coma for six months after the head injury suffered whilst skiing off-piste in the popular resort of Meribel in the Alps.

After 254 days he returned home, where he has largely remained ever since.

It was revealed earlier this year that he is to have stem cell surgery from a renowned doctor in a bid to revive his nervous system. At this time, it is not known whether the surgery took place or if Schumacher has benefited from it.

During his career, the German was known for his ferocious competitive nature on the track but another F1 boss Ross Brawn says his persona away from racing was the polar opposite.

Brawn said: ‘So many times I introduced him to people who, before they met him, thought he was a despicable, horrible character and you introduce them, and once they got to know him they completely changed.

‘I had that happen so many times because there was Michael the racing driver out on the track and there was Michael the human being away from the track.

‘I don’t know of anyone who worked with Michael who had a bad word to say about him. Lots of people who raced against him had a different opinion but nobody I know who ever worked with Michael ever had a bad opinion about him because of his integrity, his commitment, his human side.’

has tom hardy got the job as the new bond

Betting has been suspended on Tom Hardy becoming the new James Bond as fans are convinced he will be named as Daniel Craig’s replacement.

Speculation has reached fever pitch in recent days following reports the actor, 43, had been offered the iconic part after a successful audition.

All bets on who will be the next Bond are off, after Hardy’s odds were slashed from 6/1 to 1/1, amid the swirling rumours about the spy franchise’s new lead.

The Venom star has been one of the bookies favourites to take over the role since the market opened in September last year, when he was 9/1 to be cast as Bond.

When the bookmakers market closed, James Norton was the second favourite actor to bag the part at 9/4, followed by Idris Elba (11/2), Sam Heughan (6/1) and Richard Madden (7/1).

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: ‘For years we’ve heard speculation about who will replace Daniel Craig as James Bond, and finally it seems that English heart-throb Tom Hardy is the man for the role. ‘

‘The versatile Hardy would certainly be a popular choice – and attracted 54% of all bets in the 24 hours before the market was suspended.’

Tom has been one of the bookies favourites to become the next 007 in recent years, and rumours have been circulating he will step into Craig’s shoes after his fifth and final film, No Time To Die.

The Vulcan Reporter claims that Hardy had been offered the iconic part after a successful audition, while bookies odds on the star have now been slashed in half.

The publication reports producers had planned to unveil Tom as James Bond in November- the same month No Time To Die was due to be released.

However, due to the coronavirus pandemic the Vulcan Reporter state the announcement will now be made later this year or early 2021.

Earlier this week bookies have slashed odds on The Peaky Blinders star from 8/1 to just 4/5 in the past 24 hours after a flurry of bets.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: ‘A flurry of bets over the past 24 hours suggests the cat is out the bag and it’s Tom Hardy that’ll soon be replacing Daniel Craig as 007.’

The Taboo star has made no secret about wanting to be the next 007 – but has previously refused to talk about the part in fear it will get him blacklisted.

Speaking to the Daily Beast, the heart-throb admitted: ‘If I mention it, it’s gone.

‘You know, there’s a saying amongst us in the fraternity of acting, and in the fellowship of my peer group, that if you talk about it you’re automatically out of the race.

‘So I can’t possibly comment on that one!’
