black bear steals picnic cooler from tennessee park seating area

This is the moment a cheeky bear steals a picnic cooler from a seating area as onlookers watch in amusement.

The animal pilfered the cooler from a picnic table close to the Roaring Fork stream located in the Great Smoky Mountains near Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Footage shows the young black bear walking over to inspect an empty picnic table before knocking a cooler box on to the ground and pushing it away.

The video, uploaded on Facebook on October 22, shows the animal sniffing about the picnic bench before the blue container catches its eye.

The bear knocks the cooler off the wooden bench as onlookers take their phones out to record the hilarious scene.

After trying to stand the container upright and open it, the bear gives up and devises a clever method of transporting the box.

It places its two front paws on the icebox and walks on its hind legs, pushing the object through the leaves.

The bear transports the chiller all the way to the foot of a tree before attempting to open his new stolen possession once again.

Users on social media were curious to find out if the bear finally got the cooler box opened.

Josh Sansing, who uploaded the video commented: ‘He finally did and there was just a few cans and he left it lol.’

People also joked the animal was like the famous cartoon Yogi Bear who would often steal picnic baskets with his sidekick BooBoo.

One user wrote: ‘Reminds me of Yogi the bear going after a picnic basket.’

Another said: ‘Hey boo boo I found the picnic baskets.’

There are approximately 1,500 black bears in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

This is one of the largest protected areas in the eastern United States where the animals can live in wild surroundings.

US Election 2020: Joe and Jill Biden vote early in Delaware

us election 2020 joe and jill biden vote early in delaware

Joe and Jill Biden cast their ballots on Wednesday, voting early in this year’s presidential election in their home state of Delaware as the Democratic nominee prepares to campaign with former President Barack Obama.

The couple voted by appointment, which is the way early voting is conducted in that state. They exited the Carvel Delaware State Building in Wilmington wearing ‘I Voted’ stickers and face masks.

President Trump voted on Saturday morning Palm Beach, Fla., near his Mar-a-Lago home. Melania Trump will vote there on Election Day.

Both campaigns are gearing up for the final six days of the presidential election. Trump is planning a spat of closing rallies, holding multiple ones a day in key battleground states.

Biden, meanwhile, will bring out the party’s big gun: Obama. He and the former president will campaign together in Michigan – their only joint appearance of the campaign – on Saturday, his campaign announced.

The Biden appearance with Obama comes as a new poll shows he has taken the lead over Trump in Michigan and Wisconsin, two key battleground states.

New York Times/Siena College poll showed Biden up eight points in the state, with 49 per cent to Trump’s 41 per cent.

The Democratic nominee leads by 17 points in Wisconsin and seven points in Michigan – two states that Trump carried in 2016 and helped put him in the White House.

The new numbers out of the Washington Post/ABC News poll show Biden is being boosted by his support from women.

Biden leads Trump by 24 points among women in Michigan and by 30 points among women in Wisconsin.

In Michigan, Biden trails Trump among men by double digits, and the two are running about even among men in Wisconsin.

The poll numbers also indicate the coronavirus is having an effect on the election.

The pandemic has disproportionately driven women out of the workforce with some saying the current economic situation should be called a ‘shecession’ as women – particularly women of color – have been so badly effected.

President Trump is aware of his trailing numbers among females.

‘Suburban women, please vote for me,’ Trump has begged at his campaign rallies.

These women, also know as soccer moms and Walmart moms, supported Trump in 2016 but have been turning away from him in the years since. In the 2018 midterm election, they helped hand control of the House to Democrats.

Trump carried both Wisconsin and Michigan by less than 1 point in the 2016 election. He became the first Republican candidate in more than 20 years to carry the states – which were considered part of a ‘blue wall’ for Democratic candidates in the industrial Midwest.

Pennsylvania and Ohio are two other states in the region the president flipped to win the White House.

The president campaigned in Wisconsin on Saturday and was back on Tuesday. He also held a rally in Michigan on Tuesday. Vice President Mike Pence will campaign in the two states on Wednesday.

President Trump will return to Michigan and Wisconsin on Friday, along with a stop in Minnesota.

Jill Biden will be in Michigan on Thursday. Joe Biden will be in Wisconsin on Friday and Michigan on Saturday.

Biden’s double digit lead in Wisconsin comes as coronavirus cases hit new record levels there. The state is third in the nation in per capita COVID cases.

The state recorded the highest number of deaths caused by the virus on Monday. Hospitalizations are also on the rise. On Tuesday, Wisconsin reported 5,262 coronavirus cases – the highest number of cases recorded on a single day in the state since the pandemic began.

Complicating the contest in Wisconsin could be the Monday’s decision from the  Supreme Court, which effectively barred the counting of mail-in ballots received after Election Day.

It raises the question of how many late-arriving votes will be disqualified.

Interest in this year’s election, meanwhile, is hitting record levels.

More than 71 million Americans have already cast their ballot in this year’s election, according to the Election Project

That interest was echoed in Michigan and Wisconsin, the Washington Post/ABC News poll found.

Nearly 7 in 10 voters in Wisconsin and more than 6 in 10 in Michigan said they are following the presidential campaign very closely. In both states, more than 9 in 10 say they are either certain to vote or already have voted.

The Washington Post/ABC News poll was conducted Oct. 20-25, surveying 789 Michigan likely voters and 809 Wisconsin likely voters with a margin of error of plus-or-minus 4 points.

Texas is officially rated a ‘toss-up’ by respected political forecaster as votes ALREADY cast in the state reach 91% of 2016 total with seven days to go

Texas, long a Republican stronghold, was declared a toss-up state Wednesday by the respected election forecaster The Cook Political Report – a shocking pronouncement with less than a week to go in the presidential election.

Democrats have long argued the state, with is massive haul of 38 electoral votes, is trending their way thanks to its growing Latino population.

‘Texas’ shift from Lean Republican to Toss Up shouldn’t come as a surprise,’ writes Cook Report National Editor Amy Walter in her analysis. ‘Recent polling in the state — both public and private – shows a 2-4 point race’ between President Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

The RealClearPolitics polling average of polls in Texas shows Trump leading by 2.6 points.

Those numbers reflect the result in the state’s hotly-contested and closely watched Senate race in 2018, where GOP Senator Ted Cruz defeated Democratic rival Beto O’Rourke by a mere three points: 51 per cent to 48 per cent.

A Democrat has not won the state in a presidential election since 1976. Trump won Texas by 9 points in 2016.

A Biden win in Texas would end Trump’s hopes of a second term in the White House.

The Biden campaign is sending running mate Kamala Harris to the Lone Star State on Friday, where she’ll campaign in Fort Worth, McAllen, and Houston.

‘Texas could make Biden president and avert any constitutional nightmare,’ O’Rourke told Politico, referring to concerns among Democrats that Trump will legally contest ballots in battleground states if the 2020 result is close. O’Rourke has been advocating for Biden to campaign in the state.

Additionally, voting is reaching record levels in the state.

As of Tuesday, nearly 8 million Texans had cast ballots, approaching 91% of the entire 2016 vote – a higher percentage than any state in the country, according to the Election Project.

Trump has tried to hurt Biden in Texas by attacking his stance on oil and energy, aided by a mistake Biden made in their final presidential debate.

His campaign has tried to turn Biden’s remark about a ‘transition from the oil industry’ into a major scandal.

The president called it ‘perhaps the most shocking admission ever uttered in the history of presidential debates.’

But it’s unclear if the president’s push is catching fire among voters, particularly in the mist of a global pandemic and downward economy.

Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron age gap ‘mocked by Francois Hollande’

emmanuel and brigitte macron age gap mocked by francois hollande

Former French president Francois Hollande has made no secret of his dislike of the current presidential couple, and now it’s been revealed that he and his partner like to poke fun at the 25-year age gap between Emmanuel Macron and his wife.

Authors of Madame The President, journalists Ava Djamshidi and Nathalie Schuck, claim in their book that Hollande and Gayet, who themselves have an age difference of 18 years, refer to 67-year-old Brigitte Macron‘s as ‘the old one’.

Hollande, 66, who famously started dating actress Julie Gayet, 48, when he was French President and in a relationship with journalist Valerie Trieiweiler, has talked openly of his dislike of this successor, Emmanuel Macron, 42.

In a new report on the book, French magazine Gala said that the couple joked at dinner parties that Emmanuel Macron couldn’t have delayed his run for President until 2022 because his wife would be ‘too old’.

The book was published last year but it’s only now that the French media has pulled out some of the juicier details of the investigation into how Brigitte has performed in her role as First Lady.

Former literature teacher Brigitte famously met her future second husband while he was a teenager in high school.

‘Before the election, many dinner guests claimed they overhead them laughing and explaining that Emmanuel Macron had no choice but to run in 2017, because his wife would have been too old in 2022,’ the authors wrote.

This is in spite of the fact that, at 66-years-old, Hollande is only a year younger than Brigitte Macron.

Gayet, who is 48, six years older than Emmanuel Macron, has criticised Brigitte’s attitude towards her several times.

While the two women have always kept a polite demeanour the few times they’ve appeared together in public, there have been numerous reports that the courtesy was not extended to behind-the-scenes.

Gayet reportedly sent an angry text to French First Lady Brigitte Macron for excluding her from a party at the Elysée Palace – and inviting her love rival instead.

The claim was made in Paris Match magazine, which interviewed Hollande and Ms Gayet and spoke to their associates for a feature – however the actress asked not to be quoted directly in the piece.

Whether the story came directly from Gayet or someone close to her is unclear, but the magazine reports that the actress, 47, was enraged when Ms Macron, 66, failed to invite her to a lunch for former First Ladies at the Elysée Palace in 2019 – and even sent her an angry message to complain.

To add salt to the wound, the lunch was attended by none other than Valerie Trierweiler, Hollande’s former partner whom he very publicly cheated on with Ms Gayet in 2014.

The magazine also reported Ms Gayet referring to Emmanuel Macron as ‘the traitor’ for threatening to cut public funding for her partner’s French-American Foundation.

Although Ms Gayet shunned a public role as First Lady, she lived at the Elysée Palace with Hollande until he was ousted by Emmanuel Macron in 2017.

However, Ms Macron chose not to invite her to the lunch with former French First Ladies at the palace.

Guests included Carla Bruni, the wife of Nicolas Sarkozy, who was Head of State from 2007 to 2012, and Valerie Trierweiler, who was dating Francois Hollande from 2007 until his infidelity was exposed in 2014.

Ms Gayet had kept silent at the time, but her absence at the occasion had raised eyebrows among journalists and political watchers, who had wondered why she was not on the guest list.

Hollande’s relations with his predecessor Nicolas Sarkozy are also reported to be complicated.

Sarkozy was the one who alerted the press to his successor François Hollande’s affair in 2014, two journalists have claimed.

Fabrice Lhomme and Gérard Davet, who work for the renowned French publication Le Monde, made the revelation during a radio show on Europe I in February, reported French tabloid Voici.

The two men claimed that they were tipped off about Hollande’s infidelity by none other than Nicolas Sarkozy, who summoned them to his offices because he was annoyed with their investigation into allegations of financial irregularity during his 2012 re-election campaign.

Mid-rant, he reportedly told them to ‘look into Hollande’s business,’ and added that the president regularly visited a ‘good friend’, despite being a long-term relationship with author Valerie Treierweiler.

While the two men did not follow through themselves, the news hit the French tabloids three months later, with pictures of Hollande riding a scooter to Gayet’s Parisian apartment, a scandal that no one has forgotten yet.

‘We go see Nicolas Sarkozy in his offices, we get told off for half an hour – it’s always quite violent,’ recalled Gérard Davet.

‘Then, he says: “You should look into Francois Hollande. Rumour has it he rides a scooter out of the Elysee to see his good friend. Very often,” and bam, three months later it’s in Closer.’

They added that there was a lot of animosity between the rivals, with Hollande unseating Sarkozy in the 2012 election, making him the first incumbent president to lose since 1981.
