ac milan confirm five members have tested positive for coronavirus

AC Milan have announced stars Gianluigi Donnarumma and Jens Petter Hauge are among five members at the club to have tested positive for coronavirus.

Both players are now set to miss out on the team’s clash against Roma on Monday evening and will undertake a mandatory period of self-isolation.

Three other unidentified individuals will also be kept away from the club and the local health authorities have been informed.

Milan, who currently top Serie A, received the results from the latest round of testing on Sunday evening.

As a precaution, the whole group were tested again, as outlined in the guidelines, and no new positive results surfaced.

A statement from the club said: ‘AC Milan announces that the results received from the laboratory yesterday evening found a positive swab by Gianluigi Donnarumma, Jens Petter Hauge and three other members of the team group.

‘All are asymptomatic, were immediately subjected to home isolation and the local health authorities were informed.

‘Today the whole team group was tested again, as per protocol, and no new positivity was found.’

Sky Sports Italia claim that boss Stefano Pioli gave his squad the choice between quarantining at the club’s training centre or returning home.

Every player, with the exception of goalkeeper Donnarumma and winger Hauge, went into isolation on Monday morning and entered a ‘bubble’ to limit contact.

The Italian top flight has been rocked by coronavirus cases at the start of the new season with Milan alone having seven players with positive results.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic tested positive twice before recovering – and Daniel Maldini, Matteo Gabbia and Leo Duarte were also sidelined. Sandro Tonali contracted the disease while still at Brescia.

Napoli were left infuriated after being prevented from travelling to their game at Juventus on October 4. The club were docked a point for not fulfilling the fixture, with Piotr Zielinski and Eljif Elmas having tested positive.

Cristiano Ronaldo missed the Turin giants’ draw with Verona at the weekend after also being sidelined with the virus.

Genoa were hit by 17 players with coronavirus earlier this month, and Italy has now shut its stadiums due to the worrying surge in cases globally.

Khabib Nurmagomedov earns £4.7MILLION from UFC 254 win over Justin Gaethje

khabib nurmagomedov earns 4 7million from ufc 254 win over justin gaethje

Khabib Nurmagomedov banked a career-high £4.6million for his stunning UFC 254 win over Justin Gaethje.

The Russian announced his shock retirement from MMA after securing a second-round submission of the American, saying he’d promised his mother this would be his last fight as his late father Abdulmanap, who died as a result of catching Covid-19, is no longer there to guide him.

And he will be able to embrace retired life with a massive boost financially after earning not only the £4.6m purse but also a pay-per-view share and post-fight bonuses.

The breakdown of his earnings is listed as £4,666,767 purse, £40,000 Performance of the Night bonus and £40,000 fight week incentive pay.

When the pay-per-view numbers are announced that total will increase even more.

UFC president Dana White had revealed earlier last week that UFC 254 was on course to become the biggest selling pay-per-view ever from their early indications.

In terms of the purse, Khabib will take some pleasure in eclipsing the amount earned by McGregor in his defeat by Khabib himself.

The ‘Notorious’ banked £2.3m for that defeat while Khabib earned £1.5m.

Justin Gaethje is understood to have earned £400,000 as a fight purse for his efforts on Saturday night.

Despite the wealth now available to the retired champion, Khabib has never been motivated by money.

He has spoken in the past about his commitment to charity and even said the UFC could offer him £5billion to coach against McGregor in the Ultimate Fighter series and he would turn it down.

Legacy has always been the most important driving force for Khabib and he can leave the sport safe in the knowledge that his is immaculate – but the £4.6m won’t hurt either.

Steven Gerrard reveals his slip against Chelsea STILL haunts him six years on

steven gerrard reveals his slip against chelsea still haunts him six years on

Steven Gerrard has opened up on his infamous slip against Chelsea and admitted he still thinks about the ‘brutal, cruel low’ more than six years on.

Liverpool had the Premier League title in their hands towards the end of the 2013-14 season when Gerrard lost his footing and allowed Demba Ba to score at Anfield.

Chelsea ran out 2-0 winners on the day, and the defeat allowed Manchester City back into the title race. Liverpool saw their best chance of finishing top in more than two decades disappear, with City eventually finishing top by two points.

The incident has haunted Gerrard, who ended his career without a Premier League winners’ medal, ever since – and he doesn’t believe he will ever be able to forget the slip which effectively cost his side the title.

‘I park it up but it comes back, all the time,’ the Rangers boss told The High Performance Podcast.

‘What triggers it? I don’t know. TV. Images. Just me reflecting. I am someone who thinks a lot. I always try to tap into experiences.

‘This is not a thing that happens every single day, but it was such a big moment.

‘I’ve had lots and lots of moments, some incredible moments, which I never dreamed of.

‘But your career takes you to some lows as well. It would be easy if you lifted the carpet, pushed them under and you never thought about them again. But I don’t think that’s ever going to be the case.’

Gerrard says he decided to call time on his time at Anfield and move to American side LA Galaxy in 2015 on the back of ‘a real, brutal, cruel, low in my life’.

Expanding on how his slip affected everyone connected with Liverpool, Gerrard added: ‘I felt like part of me healed more, than any of those feelings.

‘I know not only did it hurt me (in 2014), it hurt a lot of people who had followed this club for many, many years.

‘Liverpool fans commit themselves to that club.

‘They love the club, it’s in the heart. I’ve lived with it for 20 years and more.

‘I knew what that meant, that Premier League (title), to an awful lot of people. My own family, to me. I mean, the way the club were with me, during that time, which will remain private.’

Gerrard watched on with pride as Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool’s current crop finally ended their wait for the title after 30 years last season, winning the Premier League title comfortably following an outstanding campaign.

And the former England midfielder insists that he wasn’t jealous to see others – including some former team-mates – lift the trophy instead of him.

‘During that run-in, to win the Premier League, it was special how that club were with me,’ he added.

‘You’ve still got the relationships with all those people and stuff. I think a lot of people were probably wondering whether I was jealous, but no.’
