Former Liverpool defender Finnan selling 2005 Champions League winner’s medal for at least £12,000

Steve Finnan is selling his 2005 Champions League winner’s medal as well as his matchworn Liverpool shirts after reports his property development business has gone into liquidation.

The former Liverpool right-back is selling several pieces of memorabilia that he won during his career on an auction website called Graham Budd Auctions.

His medal from that historic night in Istanbul – where Liverpool came from three goals down at half-time in the final against AC Milan to win on penalties – is listed on the website as being valued between £12,000 and £15,000.

The signed shirt from that game against the Serie A side is also listed between £2,000 and £2,500, while a replica of the 2005 Champions League trophy can also be bought for a price between £5,000 and £7,000.

The news has emerged after reports earlier this month in The Times that Finnan has seen his south London-based company – Finnan Developments – go bust, which has allegedly led to a spat with his brother Sean over a £4.03million (€4.4m) debt.

The report claims the former Republic of Ireland international has also taken steps to ensure his brother is declared bankrupt over the debt.

Companies House also published ‘a notice of progress report in voluntary winding up’ in January for the company based in Raynes Park, Wimbledon.

Other items on the auction site include his 2005 Carling Cup runner’s up medal, currently going for between £800-£1,200, and his shirt from that game for sale at between £700-£1,000.

His UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup medals from fifteen years ago are also up for grabs at prices ranging from £1,500 to £3,500.

The former defender is alleged to have injected more than €4m into property developments in London, which were then carried out by Sean and other members of the Finnan Developments group.

But the reported argument between the former Reds player and his brother saw the former apparently become the outright owner of Wimbledon Developments while the latter moved to another company.

Finnan made 217 appearances for Liverpool during a five-year spell at Anfield between 2003 and 2008.

The former full-back then decided to hang up his boots after his contract expired at Portsmouth after the 2009-10 season, which ended in an FA Cup final defeat against Chelsea for the south-coast side.

marcus rashford cant stop smiling after first man utd hat trick on day free school meals petition gets 1m signatures scaled

MARVELLOUS Marcus Rashford admits he “can’t stop smiling” as his stunning second-half hat-trick led Manchester United’s 5-0 hammering of RB Leipzig.

On the day the striker’s petition for free school meals reached 1million signatures, he came on in the 63rd minute to strike on 74 and 78 minutes plus two minutes into injury time.

Rashford said: “I think the manager told me when I came on to up the tempo and of course for us it means going forward and there were definitely spaces there.

“We looked like we could score every time we went forward.

“It was  a real team performance and those who started the game did well and those who came on did well.

“We can’t ask for much more than that in terms of attitude and intensity and intent to go and kill a game off.”

And in a tweet celebrating his first United treble, he hailed his petition success and amazing match stats before adding: “Can’t stop smiling, I’ve waited a long time for that. Just wish the fans were in to experience it with me.”

The 22-year-old did well to ignore the linesman’s flag in running on to Bruno Fernandes through ball for his first goal – doubling Mason Greenwood’s opener – as VAR showed his run had begun before the halfway line.

Rashford said: “I thought to be fair I was in my own half so I was a bit confused when the flag went up but all you can do is wait and see and after the ball is in the net and that is it.

“We have to work with VAR. it’s part of the game now and the quicker we get used to it the better.”

Rashford was briefly denied a hat-trick when Anthony Martial asked to take an 87th minute penalty but at least the Frenchman converted it.

Asked if there had been a chat between the two, Rashford said: “A little bit yeah but I feel confident with Anthony taking them as well so there was no problem.”

The romp made it two wins from two in Champions League Group H.

Rashford, who is making headlines off the pitch for his work in feeding poverty hit children, is doing the business on it too against sides that excelled in the Champions League last season.

He scored the late winner last week against finalists PSG and now this against the Bundesliga leaders and a side who reached the last four.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “Marcus took his chances incredibly well.

“Marcus has shown he can keep focusing on what’s important on and off the pitch.

“He came on did well made an impact and that is what you want from the subs but that is only possible though because the others had laid the groundwork.

“What a shift they put in. Leipzig make you work hard, the high press, the counter press, everything, the intensity and we had to dig in and work hard for each other so spaces open up when you are winning.”

Mason Greenwood got the opener in the 21st minute on his return to the side after a superb pass from Paul Pogba.

Solskjaer said: “He normally does that with his first touch. He is so efficient in front of goal. He is a great finisher and I was very pleased with the timing of his run. Great pass from Paul.

New signing Alex Telles missed last night’s game after testing positive for Covid-19

Solskjaer said: “Telles has tested positive for coronavirus, he’s been out for a few days, no symptoms, he’ll be fine, back soon.”

MARVELLOUS MARCUS RASHFORD hit a stunning second-half hat-trick as Manchester United hammered RB Leipzig 5-0.

But the much-loved superstar was prepared to risk claiming the match ball as he selflessly handed Anthony Martial the responsibility of taking a penalty in the dying seconds before eventually claiming his third.

The striker came on in the 63rd minute and struck in the 74th and 78th minute before eventually sealing his treble in injury time.

Rashford, 22, had just moments earlier picked up the ball when United were awarded a spot-kick, but he gave it to his team-mate, who rifled home from the spot to get off the mark for the campaign.

He said: “I think the manager told me when I came on to up the tempo and of course for us it means going forward and there was definitely space there.

“We looked like we could score every time we went forward. It was a real team performance and those who started the game did well and those who came on did well.

It was a devastating blow for fans who were looking forward to watching him go up against old rival Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo, 35, reassured fans ahead of the 2-0 defeat that he was “feeling good and healthy” despite the news.

He tweeted a picture of himself with his new shaved hair with the caption: “Feeling good and healthy! Forza Juve!”

But the ex-Real Madrid star questioned the efficiency of swab tests as he wrote: “PCR IS BULLS***.”

The Portuguese later deleted his comment.

Ronaldo received his results for the PCR (swab) test on Tuesday – just 24 hours before he was set to play against Barcelona.

He will now watch the two European heavyweights inside his own home and will hope to make his return in the Serie A game against Spezia on November 1.

Juve lost after Ousmane Dembele’s heavily deflected shot opened the scoring and Messi scored a late penalty – after Alvaro Morata had seen THREE goals ruled out for offside.

Ronaldo first contracted the virus while on international duty earlier this month.

The Juve star immediately left Portugal’s training camp and flew to Turin in a private air ambulance.

And he recorded his second positive result last Thursday – nine days after his first diagnosis.

He is currently self-isolating in his Turin home and has reportedly displayed no symptoms.

Ronaldo has been sleeping separately from partner Georgina Rodriguez and his four children – who all returned negative tests.

The former Manchester United star has spent his free time topping up his tan in his garden.
