Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp ‘plotting £10million swoop for Norwich left back Jamal Lewis’

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly eyeing up a £10million move for Norwich left back Jamal Lewis this summer.

Klopp is in need of cover for first-choice Andy Robertson in defence, particularly given Alberto Moreno’s departure last year.

The ever-reliable James Milner has often deputised for the Scotland captain when needed, but in what is expected to be a quiet window, the Reds are ready to take a gamble on a player relegated from the Premier League, according to The Mirror

The report details that Liverpool are excited about Lewis’ potential, particularly given the similarities to Robertson’s situation when he moved to Anfield three years ago.

The Scot was plucked from Hull City, who had also just gone down to the Championship, for just £8m.

That price has since proven to be an absolute snip and there are hopes that a deal for Lewis, a year younger at 22 than when Robertson joined, could prove equally valuable.

Robertson, since usurping Moreno in his first season, has won the Champions League last year, as well as this season’s Premier League.

His crossing ability from out-wide, with Trent Alexander-Arnold equally if not more threatening on the other side, has been one of the trademarks of this all-conquering Liverpool side.

Meanwhile, it is understood Klopp is a huge admirer of Lewis, with his statistics impressing the highly-regarded analytics department at Liverpool.

Liverpool’s vice-captain James Milner has often filled in at left back under Klopp at Anfield

The 22-year-old is also versatile and able to play a number of different defensive positions, which will give him more opportunities for first-team football, should that be a concern.

A sweetener in any deal could be Liverpool’s young left back Yasser Larouci moving in the opposite direction, after he refused to sign a new contract and looks set to leave the Premier League champions this summer.

Klopp has also reportedly looked at Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly and Brighton’s Ben White as potential cover for Robertson at left back.

We have only caught glimpses of her in the ring previously as she concentrated on her management career in WWE, guiding Andrade and Angel Garza.

However, she has ditched the tag-team duo over recent weeks to embark on her singles career competing inside the squared-circle.

And she is instantly aiming for the top after going face-to-face and then slapping the fearsome red brand title holder Asuka.

Vega, who is fast becoming one of the best heels in the business, then beat Mickie James to become No1 contender two days ago to set-up her match against the champ at Sunday’s Clash of Champions.

She has already whipped fans into frenzy on Instagram ahead of her moment of destiny by sharing a host of sexy snaps on Instagram.

Vega showed off photos of herself in some video game character cosplays while wearing a bikini.

She captioned it with: “Cosplays in bikinis coming sooooon #Dva of #overwatch and #Ahri of #leagueoflegends.. #cosplay.”

Meanwhile, when asked by TV Insider recently about her desire to prove herself on Raw, she said: “It was the same with NXT where you have to prove yourself to the audience. They have to know you to form an opinion of you.

“This is why when I first started wrestling I didn’t want to just jump into doing shows. Once the audience knows you, it’s hard to undo that.

“For me, I wanted to make sure I was ready and have the audience feel the way I wanted them to feel about me. You just have to prove yourself.

“Raw is a whole different stage as is SmackDown. It can be Raw and SmackDown versus NXT.

“You don’t know that until you step out and realise the difference in reaction.

“Then it becomes, ‘Okay, I have to prove myself to the Raw audience now because this is different.’ Now this is another step where I can prove myself again.”

Vega has bravely opened up about overcoming the loss of her father in the September 11 terror attacks in New York.

Despite her long on-screen association with Andrade, she is married to fellow Raw star Aleister Black.

Vega and the Dutchman, real name Tom Budgen, tied the knot in 2018 and live in Tampa, Florida.

Tapped calls show how Luis Suarez passed his citizenship test, investigators claim

tapped calls show how luis suarez passed his citizenship test investigators claim

Italian investigators will reportedly examine the emails, laptop and mobile phone of a lawyer hired by Juventus amid claims she promised to have potential signings take their Italian citizenship test at the University for Foreigners of Perugia in future if they allowed Luis Suarez to pass.

Italian police are investigating claims that the former Liverpool star cheated in his citizenship test in a bid to speed up his now collapsed to Juventus.

Tapped phone calls between Maria Turco, a lawyer hired by the Serie A champions, and an official at the University for Foreigners of Perugia allegedly contain them negotiating over passing the Uruguayan striker, and what the university would get in return.

A move to Juve has now fallen through with Suarez expected to join Atletico Madrid but he flew to Perugia last week and passed a dual citizenship test in case terms were agreed with Juventus.

But while he doesn’t appear to be moving to Italy, Suarez could find himself in hot water after claims by Repubblica and Ansa earlier this week that there were ‘irregularities’ in the test.

Now, a report by Corrierre della Sella claims there were three phone calls between Turco, who works with Juve’s lawyer Luigi Chiappero, and the director general of the university, Simone Olivieri.

It is claimed they discussed how Suarez could pass his test and what the university would get in return on phone calls monitored by the Guardia di Finanza, which investigates financial crimes in Italy.

Turco allegedly claims they would send more non-EU players needing to pass the citizenship test to the University for Foreigners of Perugia in future but only if Suarez passes the test seamlessly.

But Repubblica claim the alleged guarantees from Turco have not yet been deemed as sufficient evidence to bring charges of ‘pressure or corruption’, meaning neither her nor Juventus officials are on a list of suspects.

But it is reported that investigators want to examine Turco’s computer, mobile phone and e-mail accounts to reconstruct the lawyer’s role in the probe.

It is even claimed the university allowed Suarez to take the test early, on September 17 rather than September 22.

The test was also reportedly ‘tailor-made’ to benefit Suarez and they made four other foreigners takes the test on September 17 with Suarez, instead of September 22.

It has been reported that Suarez was sent the questions in advance and passed the Italian language (B1 level) exam having already been told the answers.

Repubblica carried quotes from an official on Monday, who said: ‘He does not speak a word of Italian. He does not conjugate verbs, he only speaks using the infinitive. If journalists would ask him some questions, he’d be lost. He earns €10million (£9.1m) a year, he needs to pass this exam.’

It is also claimed Perugia police officials were ‘monitoring the university to try and prove Suarez’s questions had been previously agreed’ and that he had been ‘prepared on the answers’.

The police are now said to be acquiring documentation from the University for Foreigners of Perugia and the player risks heavy legal action by the Public Prosecutor of Perugia.

In a statement from the Prosecutor, it was explained: ‘During the investigations delegated since February 2020 to the Economic and Financial Police Unit of the Guardia di Finanza of Perugia, irregularities in the test of certification of the Italian language, carried out on 17 September last, by the Uruguayan footballer Luis Alberto Suarez Diaz.

‘From the investigative activities it was found that the exam topics were previously agreed with the candidate and that the relative score was attributed even before the oral test was carried out, although it was found during the distance lessons held by the University teachers an elementary knowledge of the Italian language.

‘Today, the soldiers of the Guardia di Finanza are proceeding with documentary acquisitions at the University offices as well as the notification of guarantee information for the crimes of disclosure of office secrets, ideological falsehood committed by the public official in public acts.’

The president of the Italian FA, Gabriele Gravina, told Sky Sports Italia: ‘I think we are exaggerating on this matter, let’s let the federal prosecutor work.

‘It is a person who came to Italy to complete his studies.’

Suarez, meanwhile, is now not set to join Juventus anyway after they secured the return of Alvaro Morata on loan from Atletico Madrid.

That deal has paved the way for Suarez to join Atletico Madrid instead, effectively rendering his Italian test pointless.

That said, it has been reported that even his move across Spain will not be plain sailing, with Barcelona attempting to put a stop to the move.

Onda Cero report that Barca want to add Atletico Madrid to a list of ‘vetoed teams’ that Suarez can’t join when they finally agree to cancel his Nou Camp contract.

luis suarez leaves barcelonas training ground in tears having said goodbye to his team mates

Luis Suarez has been captured leaving Barcelona‘s training ground in tears as he closes in on a move to Atletico Madrid

The Uruguayan said his goodbyes to good friend Lionel Messi and the rest of his teammates on Wednesday and is expected in the next few hours to be confirmed as the latest star to leave the Camp Nou in a £3.7m deal.

The 33-year-old – who will leave Barcelona as the club’s third highest goalscorer of all time – was then captured shedding tears as he briefly put his head down while he drove out of and away from the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper facilities.

Since moving to Barcelona from Liverpool in 2014, Suarez has netted a remarkable 197 times in 283 appearances and the club are expected to make a farewell gesture to the striker on Thursday.

The Uruguayan will sign for two seasons with Madrid, who after Tuesday’s deal have agreed to pay just under £4m for each of the two seasons for which the Uruguayan will sign for.

However – much to the relief of Ronald Koeman who is against the clock to bring in fresh faces to the Camp Nou – Suarez’ tears appear to signal the end of yet another transfer saga at the Catalan side this summer.

On Tuesday, it was reported that Barcelona were attempting to put the brakes on Atletico’s move for Suarez by adding their rivals to a list of ‘vetoed clubs’ he can’t join, alongside rivals Real Madrid, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.

But Atletico have nevertheless emerged as the front-runners for Suarez’s signature after a move to Juventus fell through.

Suarez flew to Perugia, Italy, last week and passed a dual citizenship test in order to accelerate his move to the Serie A champions.

But that deal collapsed and Suarez could now find himself in hot water after claims by La Repubblica and Ansa that there were ‘irregularities’ in the test.

It has been reported that Suarez was sent the questions in advance and passed the Italian language (B1 level) exam having already been told the answers, with an investigation by the Guardia di Finanza now underway.

The police are now said to be acquiring documentation from the University of Perugia, where Suarez’s test took place, and the player risks heavy legal action by the Public Prosecutor of Perugia.

Spanish giants Barcelona meanwhile have been in a state of crisis this summer amid the coronavirus crisis crippling their finances while they were left to pick up the pieces following the huge fall-out from the Lionel Messi transfer saga.

But after board members were divided on the Messi issues, there has been a significant split in the Barcelona boardroom over the club’s choice to allow the experienced striker Suarez to join their La Liga rivals, according to Onda Cero.

However, to the reported dismay of some board members Suarez will join Atletico, who have themselves freed up space in the squad after Alvaro Morata joined former club Juventus on loan.

Former Liverpool star Suarez joins Arturo Vidal, Ivan Rakitic and Nelson Semedo has the high-profile departures at Camp Nou this summer.

Vidal joined Inter Milan for just £917,000 earlier this week, Croatian Rakitic went back to former club Sevilla for £1.3m while right-back Semedo has become the latest Portuguese addition at Wolves following a £37m move to Molineux.

Suarez won four LaLiga titles and as many Copa del Rey trophies, with his solitary Champions League win coming in 2015 after Barcelona beat Juventus in Berlin.
