mike tyson is going to get seriously hurt roy jones jr in exhibition fight warns danny williams

Roy Jones Jr has been sent a stark warning about fighting Mike Tyson from former heavyweight contender Danny Williams.

Boxing legends Jones, 51, and Tyson, 54, are set to face off in an eight-round exhibition fight in Los Angeles on November 28.

Former heavyweight world champion Tyson will hold the natural size advantage over Jones, who for much of his career campaigned in lower weight divisions.

Williams, who shocked the world when he knocked out Tyson in four rounds back in 2004, is concerned that facing his former foe is a dangerous assignment for Jones.

‘I think Roy is going to get seriously hurt. He is a natural middleweight,’ Williams told The Sun.

Jones himself has recently admitted he may come to regret the decision to fight Tyson – who is widely regarded as one of the most ferocious punchers of all time and seems to still carry significant power, judging by his training videos.

Speaking to Sky Sports about the fight, Jones said: ‘When it comes time to fight, we’re going to fight. If it comes down to bite, we’re going to bite. Whatever has to happen, is going to happen, that’s just what it is.

‘He’s still Mike Tyson, he’s still one of the strongest, most explosive people who ever touched a boxing ring. If anything, I made a mistake going in with him. He’s the bigger guy, he’s the explosive guy.

‘He’s going to have all the first-round fireworks, not me. I do have first-round fireworks, but he’s known for more first-round fireworks than anybody to ever touch boxing, other than maybe George Foreman.

‘With him having the first-round fireworks, he’ll be against a guy smaller than him, maybe 40-50 pounds smaller than him. But who knows?’

Williams, meanwhile, confirmed his retirement from fighting at the age of 47 earlier this week after drawing serious concern from fellow fighters over the manner of his latest defeat against Sergey Kharitonov.

chelsea do not have tariq lamptey buy back clause as part of 4m transfer after another stunning display at newcastle scaled

CHELSEA do not have the option to buy back youngster Tariq Lamptey – leaving Blues fans devastated.

Frank Lampard sold the 19-year-old to the Brighton for £4million in January as he approached the final six months of his contract.

He only featured three times for Chelsea and a further eight for the Seagulls last season.

But the right-back has come of age in the early weeks of the season, assisting Leandro Trossard’s goal against Chelsea while troubling the visitors’ defence throughout with his blistering pace.

And, on Sunday, Lamptey won a penalty against Newcastle in another terrific display from the teenager.

It left supporters flooding social media questioning whether Chelsea had the option to bring Lamptey back to the club in the future.

One said: “Are we going to buy Lamptey back in the future for a fortune after letting him go?”

Another said: “How long until Chelsea try to buy Tariq Lamptey back?”

A third added: “Lamptey was amazing tonight. Sadly for him Chelsea have Reece James but no doubt in my mind Lamptey will do great things.”

But Brighton do not need to worry about Chelsea returning for his signature in the future.

Lampard wanted the player to stay at Stamford Bridge but knew game time would be limited behind Cesar Azpilicueta and Reece James in the pecking order.

Lamptey wanted first-team football and Chelsea were not willing to stand in the way of his development.

The England Under-21 international, being scouted by Ghana, penned a contract at Brighton until the summer of 2023 after joining the Chelsea academy at the age of eight.

la lakers star anthony davis three point buzzer beater hands lebron james and co victory

Anthony Davis landed a three-pointer on the buzzer to lift the Los Angeles Lakers to a thrilling 105-103 win and a 2-0 Western Conference final series lead over the Denver Nuggets on Sunday.

Davis’s channeled the inner spirit of former Lakers star Kobe Bryant, who seven regular-season buzzer-beaters are tied for the most ever.

The Lakers were wearing special ‘mamba’ black tribute jerseys following Bryant’s tragic death in a helicopter crash in January, but his memory appeared to inspire his former side to a dramatic victory.

Davis – who confirmed that he yelled ‘Kobe!’ after drilling the game-winning shot – ended with 31 points, scoring his team’s last 10 in contributing a 22-point second half as the Lakers defied yet another Denver comeback.

LeBron James had 26 points and 11 rebounds for the Lakers, while Danny Green had 11 points.

The Nuggets trailed by as many as 16 points before Nikola Jokic took control by scoring 11 straight Denver points, including a basket that put his side up 103-102 with 20 seconds left.

In a frantic finish, LA’s Alex Caruso missed a three-pointer, before a shot from Green was blocked out of bounds with 2.1 seconds left.

Rajon Rondo then found Davis near the sideline, and the All-Star forward found the basket from long-range.

‘Special moment for a special player. Happy to be a part of it,’ said James.

Jokic had 30 points and nine assists for the Nuggets while Jamal Murray had 25 points.

Game three is on Tuesday night.
