Alex Neil’s side, who finished four points off the play-off places, could make an opening bid of £500,000 plus add-ons next week.

Former Leyton Orient striker Bonne jumped three divisions last season but more than held his own in the Championship, scoring 11 goals.

Preston are waiting to see what happens with crisis club Charlton’s financial situation.

As SunSport revealed earlier this week, the London club are facing being booted out of the EFL unless current owners ESI sell.

Preston see 24-year-old former non-League striker Bonne as a rough diamond with bags of potential.

The club raided the Addicks for centre-back Patrick Bauer last summer with the German becoming a key part of Neil’s side, starting all but one game.

However, Charlton are keen to hold onto Bonne with director of football Steven Gallen hoping he fires the club back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

Gallen also revealed he is yet to receive any offers for the two-cap Zimbabwe international.

He told London News Online: “I don’t want Macauley to go – no chance. I think he can go and score 15-20 goals in this division.

“He had a great return last season – 11 goals in the Championship having come from non-League.

“I don’t want Macauley to go and neither does Lee Bowyer. We’re really pleased no-one has made an offer.”

barcelona eye real sociedad star willian jose as alternative to lautaro martinez and memphis depay

Barcelona are reportedly monitoring the situation of Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose as they eye replacements for the outbound Luis Suarez.

The Spanish giants have endured a frustrating summer transfer window after struggling in their pursuits of both Lautaro Martinez and then Memphis Depay, who was viewed as a cheaper option.

And according to Spanish publication Sport, Barcelona are now looking at Jose as an alternative to both Martinez and Depay.

Barcelona were interested in his signature in the January transfer window and could make a move for him again this summer.

A deal for Jose would reportedly cost Barcelona, who have endured a turbulent summer amid the Lionel Messi transfer saga and their finances taking a hit due to coronavirus, around £28m.

Barcelona’s sporting director Ramon Planes is a huge admirer of the Real Sociedad striker and is behind the club’s push for his services.

Jose has a hefty release clause inserted in his Real Sociedad deal of £64m but they would be reportedly willing to lower his valuation to around £28m.

The 28-year-old Brazilian moved to Real Sociedad back in 2016, and has featured 149 times for the club.

During his four years in Spain, Jose has scored 56 goals and provided 14 assists for his Real Sociedad team-mates.
