psg fined 27000 and boss tuchel is warned by uefa for late start to second half against atalanta

Paris Saint-Germain coach Thomas Tuchel’s half-time team talk to try and lift his team to a Champions League quarter-final win cost the club 30,000 euros (£27,000).

UEFA’s disciplinary panel imposed the fine on Friday and also warned Tuchel ‘for being responsible for the late kick off’ to restart Wednesday’s game.

The French champions trailed 1-0 at half-time against Atalanta after Mario Pasalic’s clinical strike in the 26th minute.

The introduction of Kylian Mbappe proved crucial in the second-half.

His pace and quality finally undid the stubborn Atalanta rearguard to provide an astonishing finale to the first one-legged quarter-final in the re-shaped competition.

Naymar laid on a 90th-minute equaliser for Marquinhos and Mbappe teed up former Stoke striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting to slide in the winner

UEFA often fine clubs for being late from the dressing-room to start the second-half which can affect broadcasters’ schedules.

Critics often compare the size of those fines unfavourably with similar sums imposed on clubs in cases of racist behaviour by fans at stadiums.

Montenegro were fined £17,396 and ordered to play one match behind closed doors after fans racially abused England’s Raheem Sterling, Danny Rose and Callum Hudson-Odoi during a Euro 2020 qualifier last year.

ufc star colby covington insists controversial rant at sham black lives matter movement was not racist scaled

UFC star Colby Covington has defended his comments about Black Lives Matter and insists they were ‘not racist’.

Covington battered Tyron Woodley at UFC Fight Night earlier this month, but caused controversy with his post-fight comments.

He claimed Woodley was a communist ‘because he is standing up for lifelong criminals’, before blasting the BLM movement as ‘a sham’.

Now speaking on Submission Radio, the 32-year-old appeared to have no regrets over his comments.

He said: “There’s nothing that I said that was racist and there’s nothing I did that was racist – end of story.”

Covington completely dominated the much-anticipated bout between the two bitter rivals in Las Vegas.

And he was determined to carry on the feud in the press conference afterwards.

He said: “You know the Black Lives Matter is a complete sham. It is a joke. They are taking these people. They are complete terrorists.

“They are taking these people that are criminals. You know, these aren’t people that are hard working Americans. Blue collar Americans.

“These are bad people. They are criminals, you know, and they shouldn’t be attacking police.

“You know if you are breaking the law and you are threatening the cops with weapons. You know, you deserve to get what you get.

“Law enforcement protects us all. If you don’t have law enforcement it would be the wild wild west.

“So you know, people need to go and give a pat on the back to law enforcement every single day and thank them for keeping us all safe.

“Otherwise you know all these criminals would be running the streets wild and none of us would be safe.”

The Donald Trump fan added in an interview with BJPENN.com: “You know he [Woodley] is a communist. You know, he’s a Marxist. He stands for criminals. He hates America, and that’s why he got broke tonight.”

The fighter even got a call from Trump during his presser,

who hailed him for his win.

Trump told Covington on the phone: “I’m proud of you man, I’m a big fan and I’m proud of you.

“You’re tough, you have the right spirits. So now go win the next one, and just keep it for a long time, right?

“Just keep that championship for a long time. But you are something.

“I appreciated the shout-out tonight, too. I’m your fan, you’re my fan. Two of a kind, two of a kind.”
