Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane will make a late decision on starting Eden Hazard in his side’s crunch Champions League clash with Manchester City, according to reports.

The Belgian is said to still be in pain from the ankle injury which caused him to miss the first leg between the two sides at the Bernabeu and he could be forced to watch from the sidelines again.

Despite taking part in training with his team-mates, Mundo Deportivo report that it is not certain the forward will be fit enough for selection with Zidane prepared to make a late call.

The 29-year-old’s first season for the Spanish side has been constantly disrupted by injuries.

A hamstring problem caused him to miss the start of the season before he suffered his first ankle injury in November.

After initially recovering, Hazard was dealt a further blow when he was forced to undergo surgery after fracturing his right ankle against Levante.

The enforced break in the season due to coronavirus allowed the forward to recover and play a part in Real’s march to the LaLiga title but he did not play in the final game against Leganes.

Hazard broke his ankle while playing for Chelsea in 2017 and has suffered recurring problems since.

Zidane is desperate for the Belgian to be fit for Friday’s clash at the Etihad with Real needing to overturn a 2-1 defeat from the first leg.

Goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne put City in the driving seat after Isco had given the hosts the lead.

But Real finished their domestic season in fine form, beating Barcelona to the title after winning 10 games in a row before drawing the final match.

AWESOME AUBA HERE

Martin Keown reckons Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can become an Arsenal legend after the striker finally signed a new contract this week.

And the club’s former centre-back shared his thoughts on what more the Emirates frontman can do to become a Gunners icon.

Keown told talkSPORT: “Aubameyang loves playing there [Arsenal] and he wants to be a legend in the future, so why not?

“He’s 31 years of age and he’s turned down Barcelona by the way to stay there. I think that tells you how much he loves the football club and what he’s looking to achieve.

“If they win the Premier League in the next three years then he certainly will become a legend if he plays a major part in that.”

The club have been strongly linked with a move for Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.

And the United boss is thought to be considering deals for the right price.

Solskjaer said: “We are always looking to improve if there is something out there that is available at the right price.

“We always want to strengthen. But we can all look ourselves in the mirror, instead.”
