templegates horses to follow our top racing tipster lets you in on his horses to keep on side this flat season

THE season has finally started and here’s my top ten to make us a profit.

I’ve steered clear of the superstars to come up with a list of horses with the potential to land a few nice wins over the next few months. So stick them in your tracker and let’s give the bookies a right old kicking.

JUAN ELCANO – Kevin Ryan

This son of Frankel had three runs over seven furlongs last season and looks a nice prospect when he tackles a mile and beyond.

His best effort came at Newmarket where he was a close second in the Group 2 Superlative Stakes.

He finished the campaign by finishing third in the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster and should make a really nice three-year-old.

Saturday’s 2,000 Guineas may be asking a lot but the fact he’s in the line-up says a lot of what level-headed Ryan thinks of him.

JUAN LES PINS – Ed Walker

Ed Walker has a nice handicapper on his hands here after two good showings as a two-year-old.

After a quiet debut at Newbury in September he stepped up to go close twice at Kempton in October and November.

His opening mark of 76 looks on the generous side and he has scope for real improvement as he steps up to a mile and further this season.

KINSMAN – William Haggas

William Haggas gave this son of Exceed And Excel just a couple of runs as a two-year-old and they were both full of promise.

He started with a half-length third at Yarmouth before more than matching that with a comfortable October success on the all-weather at Wolverhampton.

That was over seven furlongs but he’ll improve for longer distances and it will be surprising if he can’t rate much higher than his opening mark of just 78.

LAST LOOK – Saeed bin Suroor

This daughter of top sire Pivotal landed three bloodless victories last season. Her debut success came without getting out of first gear at Chelmsford in July before she followed up in quiet waters at Nottingham and Ffos Las.

That patient approach means she starts her four-year-old season with an official rating of 95 which gives her a chance to land a handicap or two before stepping into Listed company where she surely belongs.

Middle distances and a bit of give in the ground suit and she has a lot more to offer.

NATIVE TRIBE – Charlie Appleby

Charlie Appleby gave this son of Farhh just two runs last season. He kicked off with a narrow defeat at Newbury before landing the odds at Sandown in August.

That was over a mile but there’s plenty of stamina in his pedigree and he should leave that form behind over an extra couple of furlongs.

ONE MASTER – William Haggas

She may be six now but William Haggas’s flyer has more wins in her, especially as the trainer admits he has been running her over the wrong trip.

The penny has dropped that seven furlongs is her favourite especially with a little give in the ground. She showed that when winning the Group 1 Prix De La Foret at Longchamp in October for the second year running.

Given her conditions, there are more top prizes to come.

RHYME SCHEME – Mick Channon

Mick Channon may not have conjured a win from this Poet’s Voice filly as a juvenile but he should have better luck this campaign thanks to her handicap mark of 78.

She improved as the campaign went on and stepped forward when second at Lingfield on her three-year-old debut in March. That was over seven furlongs but she looks more of a miler and will be winning soon.

SKY COMMANDER – James Tate

This powerful colt had a training setback early last season but showed his wellbeing when winning by seven lengths on his second outing at Kempton in December.

He was still very green there and displayed good pace for a horse that’s bred to need further than those seven furlongs. He can make up for lost time this summer.

SKY POWER – Richard Hannon

We didn’t see this son of Fastnet Rock until November and it was an excellent debut as he finished a close third in a Newmarket maiden.

That was over seven furlongs in the mud and he was very green as the race unfolded.

Moving up to a mile and beyond will help him fulfil his potential this season.

TRUESHAN – Alan King

Alan King made a mark on the Flat last season and this fella played his part with four wins and a second from his five runs.

He was impressive when winning the Old Rowley Cup at Newmarket in October before signing off with a gutsy victory in the mud at Newbury.

He saw out 1m5f that day and looks a major player in staying contests this season.

DANI CEBALLOS may have dropped a hint regarding his future after he was snapped wearing a Real Betis shirt on Monday night.

The 24-year-old has shown he still has a soft spot for his former side, who he made his debut with in 2014 after coming through their academy.

The Spanish midfielder starred on loan at Arsenal during the 2019/20 season, chipping in with two goals and two assists in 37 games in all competitions.

He became an integral part of the Gunners side under Mikel Arteta following the restart of football in June, as he helped the North Londoners win the FA Cup.

There had been hope from Arsenal fans that Ceballos would return to the club.

But a picture has emerged of Ceballos wearing a Betis jersey while playing the board game Parcheesi with friends on Monday night.

Arsenal are understood to want to bring the player back on another loan deal, while Manuel Pellegrini is looking to permanently sign him.

Commenting on his future in an interview with El Partidazo de COPE, he said: “I’m not thinking about whether or not I can play for Real Madrid, Arsenal or another club.”

He then told Cadena SER: “It’s a satisfaction to have won the FA Cup. I’m thrilled to end the season with a title.”

Before adding: “I have a lot love for Betis, for everyone that works at that club.

“They know the love I have for them and we’be been in contact all season. Betis means a lot me.”

However, she required medical treatment as early as the second game of her first match since March against the Czech player.

In a contest played in extremely humid conditions following some rain, Konta called the doctor to the court after only a few minutes of play.

She kept holding two fingers to her throat to check her pulse.

The 29-year-old later revealed it was the FOURTH time she has suffered the problem but insisted it is not a threat to her career and she is physically healthy to play elite sport.

The world No15 said: “I sometimes have a heart palpitation.

“My heart rate shoots up for no reason, we didn’t have a long point, I wasn’t gassing in any way in my lungs.

“It makes me a bit light-headed. I just had to see the doctor and the physio.

“I was having all the checks. I am as fit as a fiddle but it can happen.

Konta revealed this is the fourth time she has had heart palpitations

“It took a while to settle down until about 4-3 in the first set, but then it did settle down and I was able to concentrate on the tennis.

“This was the fourth time it’s ever happened. The first time was in Birmingham in 2017, the second time in Beijing in 2018 in an evening match that I played.

“The third time was two months ago, in a training block on the clay. I wouldn’t say there’s a massive common denominator.

“We don’t know why it happens, it’s in stressful situations, in non-stressful situations.

“I am worried. It’s not ideal. I am going to have another test, and hopefully measure it.”
