- Tommy Fury was scheduled to face former UFC star Darren Till in ring next year
- Former Love Island star has claimed that Till is unwilling to abide by boxing rules
- Till hit back at Fury for the withdrawal and sent a flurry of further insults his way
Tommy Fury has pulled out of his anticipated showdown with Darren Till, alleging the former UFC welterweight title challenger refuses to ‘abide by professional boxing rules’.
The pair, who were scheduled to meet at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester on January 18, had traded insults, with Till claiming he’s kick the younger Fury brother in the head.
This threat appears to have prompted Fury, whose last fight was a unanimous decision win against Youtuber-turned-boxer KSI last October, to drop out of the contest.
‘For the one simple reason being that Darren has stated over and over that he does not want to abide by professional boxing rules and that if he is loosing the fight he will resort to kicking and other stupid MMA tactics.’ The 25-year-old wrote on Instagram.
‘I am a professional boxer, I have been out of the ring for over a year and I wanted this to be a great BOXING fight for the fans. I have wasted weeks in training camp. We are working hard to get a new opponent and date.
‘I promise to get a better opponent and better fight for you guys. Good news around the corner.’

Till was quick to respond to Fury and took aim at both and his dad John after the withdrawal
John Fury was seen throwing water in the direction of the former UFC star during the pre-fight press conference last month.
The outspoken Till was quick to respond to Fury – the younger brother of former heavyweight world champion Tyson – labelling him and father John s**thouses and insisting that he didn’t need to ‘throw kicks’ to win the contest.
‘I was selling the fight to make me and you more money you absolute empty head fighting family my a** you and ur dad s**thouses,’ Till wrote on X. ‘I don’t need to throw kicks you was getting knocked spark out you divvy we was making bank on this fight cos of me not you.
‘I was building it you should be fighting and should be thanking me. Over and out… no one wants to fight me… Jake Paul what are you up to you big fat dummy?’
During a heated pre-fight press conference last month, Till had exchanged insults with Fury, before the latter’s father John was seen throwing water in the direction of the former UFC fighter.
It was thrown to limited effect however, with Tommy left soaked by his father, but it still incensed Till who was seen attempting to charge towards the 59-year-old.
The Liverpudlian was held back by security guards, with John showing no signs of backing down as he looked to confront his son’s opponent after taking his jacket off.
Till then appeared to continue their clash on social media after publishing John Fury’s phone number.
The 31-year-old posted a mobile phone number to his followers on X, formerly Twitter, adding the message ‘Thanks John Fury’.
Till ultimately deleted his post which had been viewed over 10,000 times, but fans were quick to respond and questioned the validity of the number.
Till’s social media post had come a day after he pledged to ‘terrorise him [John Fury] and his whole family’ in the build-up to his fight with Tommy on January 18.
‘I’ve never seen the Furys s*** themselves like that, the Furys got bullied,’ Till reflected on the press conference chaos on the The Ariel Helwani Show.
You can’t call someone crazy who’s just walked out to the press conference, nobody held [John Fury] back. I had 10 security hold me back. What did he do? Nothing.
‘I’m going to terrorise him and his whole family for the next f***ing nine weeks. No one’s going to do anything about it.
‘I wanted the face-off. No one was holding John Fury back. He could have done something there and then. So at the end of the day, mate, they got terrorised.’
