Cheryl breaks down in TEARS as disabled ballroom dancer FAILs to make The Greatest Dancer live shows

Published

Saturday night saw the end of the auditions, with each of the judges revealing who they have chosen to take to the live shows.

And Cheryl, 36, broke down in tears as a disabled ballroom dancer and her policeman husband failed to make it through the live shows despite being praised for their ‘stunning’ performance on The Greatest Dancer.

The mother-of-one was visibly distraught at the heartbreaking moment Alex and his wheelchair-bound wife Jacqueline realised that they were being sent home.

As the opening act in the episode, Cheryl’s jaw dropped as Jacqueline was lifted into the air by her dance partner Alex in a passionate foxtrot routine.

Following the couple’s breathtaking performance to Christina Aguilera’s emotional song ‘Hurt’, Cheryl praised disabled dancer Jacqueline.

She said: ‘You are the perfect example of not letting a disability stand in the way of your ability because that was a stunning performance.’

But at the end of the show, at the moment that Jacqueline and Alex realised they’d been rejected by the judges, Cheryl burst into floods of tears.

Before their performance, the couple revealed that they met 13 years ago at a party, and that in the same year they started dancing and got married.

Jacqueline told receptionist Curtis Pritchard: ‘We’re fighters so we want everything to be perfect, and that’s what makes us such a good team.’

Alex added: ‘When we dance, we can tell everybody you can do anything you want if you put your mind to it.’

‘I can dance, so what’s more beautiful?’ poised Jacqueline.

Following their sensational on-stage moment, Oti told the pair: ‘We haven’t actually had anyone come out here and do a ballroom piece.

‘But the fact you can do a beautiful Foxtrot and still have a lot of rise and fall. You did a fallaway whisk and led that into a fallaway drop and then you did this incredible lift.’

Happy dancers: Elsewhere, Judge Oti Mabuse, 29, selected hip-hop group Dark Angels for the day's greatest dancer, who went straight into the live shows

Elsewhere, Judge Oti Mabuse, 29, selected hip-hop group Dark Angels for the day’s greatest dancer, who went straight into the live shows alongside Cheryl’s previous pick of tiny dancers Lily and Joseph, Todrick Hall’s, 34, earlier choice of Ainsley Rickets, and Matthew Morrison’s, 41, selection of Hannah.

At callbacks the judges were tasked with selecting two others each, taking a final twelve acts forward in the competition, and announcing their choices in a dramatic reveal.

Legacy Funk, Miss J and Yassaui didn’t get through and the latter admitted that the second ‘no’ was harder than the first after he was previously rejected last series.

Cheryl then chose The Queens dressed in fierce red suits and is jubilant when one of the dancers revealed she went to the same dance school as the Former Girls Aloud star.

Tom and Liverpool dance troupe Jelli didn’t get in, but Todrick selected screaming Wizard Of Oz troupe Dancepoint.

Oti was met by hurried hugs from Vale, who were still covered in dirt as she revealed that she’d chosen to be their dance captain.

Wheelchair bound Jacqueline and her partner Alex didn’t get through, leaving Cheryl in floods of tears, with Giovanni, Aimee, Elite Dance Juniors, DN12 and Renako Collective also being rejected from the show.

Cheryl was soon elated as she was revealed as the dance caption to all-male dance troupe Brothers Of Dance.

Matthew’s final choice was male dancing due Ross & Travis, while Oti delighted jiving duo Michael & Jowita.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez parted ways in 2004, ending their A-list engagement after two years together.

And though their relationship ended over 16-years-ago, the Boston-bred actor recently revealed that the pair still ‘keep in touch.’

Ben, 47, only had nice things to say about the triple-threat, 50, telling the New York Times that he has ‘a lot of respect’ for the Hustlers actress, who he also called ‘the real deal.’

‘I keep in touch periodically with her and have a lot of respect for her,’ Affleck said of his former love.

The Academy Award winner went on to praise Lopez for talent, telling the paper of record: ‘How awesome is it that she had her biggest hit movie at 50?’

‘That’s f***ing baller,’ he went on.

Ben and Jennifer – affectionately called ‘Bennifer’ during their romance – first met while working together on the 2003 film Gigli.

Affleck proposed to her in November of 2002, only propelling their super couple status.

But things took a dramatic turn when the pair cancelled their September 2003 nuptials just one day before they were set to take place.

By January 2004, the pair officially called it quits – a break-up which was later largely attributed to the overwhelming media attention they faced.

Reflecting on the relationship in 2016, Lopez told Extra: ‘We didn’t try to have a public relationship. We just happened to be together at the birth of the tabloids, and it was like “Oh, my God.” It was just a lot of pressure.’

Ben went on to date future wife Jennifer Garner, who he wed in 2005. The pair – who share three kids – split in 2015, largely due to Affleck’s struggles with alcohol and substance abuse.

Affleck now calls the divorce the ‘biggest regret’ of his life.

‘The biggest regret of my life is this divorce,’ he told the Times. ‘Shame is really toxic. There is no positive byproduct of shame. It’s just stewing in a toxic, hideous feeling of low self-worth and self-loathing.’

Still, Garner has stayed by to support Affleck amid his recovery, often seen spending time together as a family.

On Monday Coleen and Wayne were spotted out and about together grabbing some breakfast.

While the couple have taken to Instagram in recent months to mark birthdays and anniversaries, they haven’t been seen out together since last August.

Back in August, Wayne and Coleen were pictured together in Washington, before they moved back to the UK.

Before that, they were seen holidaying together in Barbados, a month after his ‘barmaid bender.’

Their holiday has marked a ‘fresh start’ in their relationship following Wayne’s 10-hour booze bender in Florida in February, where he downed shots with bar girl Vickie Rosiek until 2.30am.

A source told The Sun at the time: ‘Coleen is adamant Wayne can change his ways and she is helping him get out of the hole he’d fallen into. This holiday marks a fresh start and things are going well.

‘First to go was his video gaming obsession and Coleen is demanding he spend more time with the family at home, rather than in a different room staring at a screen.

‘She is desperate for Wayne to end his childish antics and start growing up.’

Wayne and Coleen were pictured again on social media while on a double date with pals in November, just over three months on.

Hinting at Wayne’s absence from her social media in recent weeks, Coleen captioned the post: ‘It’s been a while… Great to be back to weekday date nights and meeting up with friends.’

A month later, the couple shared a family snap and Wayne also posted a throwback picture and Valentine’s Day message over the weekend as the pair celebrated 18 years together.

Meanwhile, Coleen’s post marked the first time she had been seen since responding to Rebekah Vardy’s emotional Loose Women appearance amid their public feud.

Last week, a representative for Coleen tweeted that she is ‘confident in the legal process’ and feels no need to comment further after Rebekah told how the WAG war ‘was the worst thing she had been through since being abused by her stepdad’.

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy for further comment.

In October last year, Rebekah was explosively accused by Coleen of leaking stories about her to The Sun newspaper – a claim she fiercely denies – leading to a WAG war which captivated the nation.

Coleen launched an incredible social media attack on Rebekah, revealing how she set up an elaborate sting on Instagram to ‘catch’ her leaking fake stories.

Her dramatic revelation enthralled Britain and sparked an angry denial from pregnant Vardy who said ‘I don’t need the money’ and pointed out other people have had access to her Instagram account.

Fans praised Rooney for the sensational way in which she revealed Vardy was the alleged culprit by concluding her post with a thriller-worthy: ‘It’s……… Rebekah Vardy’s account.’
