Former NFL player Antonio Brown has come under fire after branding Notre Dame football player Charles Du a ‘ch**k’.

Du went viral on Thursday as the Fighting Irish secured an emotional Sugar Bowl win over Georgia in the wake of the deadly New Orleans terror attack.

The cornerback, a walk-on from Beijing who went to high school in California, had his name written in Chinese text on the back of his jersey.

A clip of Du was posted by ESPN ahead of Thursday’s game and, at the time of writing, had been viewed more than 2million times on X.

Former wide receiver Brown reposted the video on his own account and wrote alongside it: ‘Ch**k of the Day’

The 36-year-old, who has a history of controversial antics on social media, added: ‘A Legend… got an NIL deal for this kid’

Brown’s post had been viewed nearly 1.5million times at the time of writing. It drew criticism from a number of supporters, one of whom urged Elon Musk to ban Brown from the social media platform.

‘Stop with the racist comments. The game is international now but here you are still using slurs,’ one fan wrote.

‘Come on Antonio that’s the same as me saying the N word,’ another added.

‘Okay there’s no reason for this. @elonmusk ban this man,’ said a third, while a fourth added: ‘Racist much? Idiot.’

The ex-Buccaneers and Steelers player was a vocal supporter of Donald Trump before and after his resounding election win over Kamala Harris.

Brown attended a Trump rally and led a voter registration drive at a tailgate party – both in Pittsburgh – before the 78-year-old was ultimately elected as president for a second time.

Brown and former Steelers teammate Le’Veon Bell both appeared onstage next to Trump, before greeting him on the tarmac when he landed back in Pittsburgh shortly after their old team’s game against the New York Jets.

The seven-time Pro Bowler last appeared on the field in January 2022 – when he ripped off his pads and jersey at MetLife Stadium in the middle of a game against the Jets and headed to the locker room.
