Jade Roper is stripped of $1M winnings from fantasy football league amid cheating allegations

Jade Roper lost a $1million haul amid allegations she cheated to win a fantasy league with her husband Tanner Tolbert.

The Bachelor star claimed victory in a Draft King’s fantasy football league earlier this year, and recently updated standings revealed that a new user claimed the top prize in the wild card weekend contest from a simple $20 buy-in.

The 33-year-old reality star was outed as the winner when an internet sleuth recognized the name with help from his Bachelor-fan girlfriend, but users were quick to call collusion after her picks eerily matched up with husband Tanner’s.

DraftKings tweeted on Saturday morning: ‘DraftKings has decided to update the standings for several contests. All customer affected by the updated standings will be notified directly. It is our general policy not to comment further on such matters.’

The winning lineup was shared to millions of users showing a congrats to ‘JadeRoper’ for earning 180.78 points to clinch the title.

DFS (Daily Fantasy Sports) player Alex Baker was quick to point out the familiar name at the top of the leader board, which sparked an entirely new discussion.

‘I’m pretty sure this girl was on The Bachelor,’ Baker tweeted. ‘I only know this because my girlfriend forces me to watch it.’

Jade responded back: ‘Hahaha that’s me! And Tanner told me I shouldn’t play DK Metcalf!’

One user noted that Tanner regularly played Metcalf on his lineups, and remarked that it was curious her husband would ever make that call.

Another player broke down each of their lineups to find that while Jade played Saturday players, Tanner was intent on playing Sunday players and that the distribution of players chosen on respective leagues appeared to perfectly balance out between the pair.

While it may be against rules for players to work together, many users noted that its a widespread practice and unfortunately two famous names got caught and made the example.

Draft Kings managed to stay quiet while the collusion controversy was unfolding online, only to issue a statement to ESPN’s David Payne Purdum on Monday morning.

‘We take the integrity and fairness of our contests very seriously and are looking into this matter.’

Jade participated in Season 19 of The Bachelor and Tanner was a contestant on the 11th season of The Bachelorette, but the pair found love on the second season of Bachelor in Paradise.

The couple married during a special episode of Ben Higgin’s season of the popular ABC dating show in 2016 and now share two children.

He’s set to play America’s first celebrity fashion designer in new series Simply Halston.

And Ewan McGregor looked every inch the brooding artist as he prowled downtown New York in a black leather trenchcoat while filming the drama on Thursday.

The actor, 48, cut an intense figure as the renowned fashion designer, wearing head to toe black.

Ewan stepped into character in a pair of smart black slacks and a black jersey worn over a black shirt with an oversize wing tip collar.

Father of four Ewan looked suitably stylish in the role, completing the look with black dress shoes while his feathered brown hair brushed his shoulders in gentle curls.

Ewan struck a pensive pose while he puffed on a cigarette during the scene in which his character Halston frantically hunts down modela to showcase his designs.

The Netflix series is based upon Steven Gaines book Simply Halston: The Untold Story which was published in 1993.

Gaines said of the designer’s wild sex life: ‘Being trash was venerated. The trashier you could be, the more you could get laid, the more drugs you could take.’

The author went on to detail how Studio 54 co-owner Steve Rubell would hand out quaaludes during Halston’s wild parties in his lavish New York pad, and how the designer would host man-on-man orgies alongside his on-again-off-again partner Victor Hugo.

However, Halston’s life of excess soon took its toll, as he tested positive for AIDS in 1988 and tragically died in 1990, in San Francisco

Ewan will be portraying the show’s eponymous star while Rory Culkin, 30, who is set to portray filmmaker Joel Schumacher in the series.

The film follows Halston in various different stages of his life, from aspiring designer to fashion icon who attended A List events with Liza Minnelli.

The riotous biography has been adapted for television by screenwriter Ryan Murphy who’s previous works include Glee and American Horror Story.

Ryan took to Instagram earlier this week to share a first look teaser of the upcoming programme, which started production on Tuesday.

In the video, Ewan transformed into Halston in various different stages of his life and sported multiple hairstyles.

His character was surrounded by various model, muses and mannequins who were all modelling his designs.

Ryan penned alongside the video: ‘After a long 20 years of twists and turns, the limited series HALSTON starring the fantastic Ewan McGregor began production today.

‘I am so proud of our director and leader Dan Minahan, and Christine Vachon of Killer Films. I am thrilled to be producing this great and meaningful show with them and Alexis Martin Woodall and Pamela Koffler.

Halston, real name Roy Halston Frowick, enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame in the 70s as he became the designer of choice, and confidante, to some of the most famous women in Hollywood.

The designer began his career in Chicago, and designed the pillbox hat that Jackie Kennedy wore during her husband’s inauguration in 1960.

Moving to New York in 1966, the designer made his first ready-to-wear line, which led to him becoming one of the country’s most influential fashion designers.

In honor of the legendary Nirvana frontman, widow Courtney Love and their daughter Frances Bean both took to Instagram and shared photos of Cobain.

Frances Bean, 27, was just shy of two-years-old when her father died by suicide in April 1994.

Love, 55, paid tribute by posting a picture of Cobain playing an acoustic guitar with a simple but sweet heart emoji in the caption.

Frances honored her father by sharing a touching photo of him holding her in his arms as a young baby as he stared deep into her eyes.

She also added a green heart and a dove emoji.

Love was married to the guitarist and singer from 1992 until his death, following a long struggle with depression and heroin addiction.

Frances Bean inherited 37% of her late father’s estate in December 2009.

In 2019, she revealed that she feels ‘guilt’ over inheriting the money, which she is said to be about $95,000 a month, because she ‘didn’t earn it,’ as reported by People.

‘It’s almost like this big, giant loan that I’ll never get rid of,’ she revealed during an episode of the RuPaul: What’s The Tee? podcast.

‘I have an almost foreign relationship to it or guilt because it feels like money from somebody that I’ve never met, let alone earned myself.’

Nirvana burst out of the underground and into the mainstream music scene with the release of their seminal album Nevermind in 1991, with the help of its powerful lead single Smells Like Teen Spirit.

For the next three years, the Seattle-based rockers went on to become among the biggest bands in the world, selling over 75 million records worldwide.

Eventually, Nirvana was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in their first year of eligibility in 2014.

BAZ BAMIGBOYE: Anne-Marie Duff gets tough as she will have central matriarchal role in new play

Duff said she returns to the stage as often as she can because it’s like ‘going home after being away for a long time, and getting back to your books and records and loved ones’

Anne-Marie Duff is going ‘home’ to the stage, to play the central role in an epic play which covers five decades of a working-class family’s struggle to stay together.

Duff, who stars in the second season of the Netflix smash hit Sex Education, told me she’ll be playing Constance, a matriarchal figure in the Webster household in Nottingham, in Beth Steel’s new play The House Of Shades.

The award-winning actress said that after reading the first 20 pages she knew she had to do it.

‘I thought Omigod! It’s sexy, funny — and important.’

Duff said the play is about the Websters’ political, environmental and climate beliefs — and how they can tear a family apart.

‘You’ve got the rise of Mrs Thatcher, and that sends a massive splinter through the family.’

The play reminded her of the 1960 Albert Finney film Saturday Night And Sunday Morning, about a hard-living factory worker.

‘The family is connected to factory work,’ she said of the play.

‘The miners’ strike is in there. As a child I remember us lighting candles because of the power cuts.’

She noted that we’re living through a period where many families are divided over Brexit, and how the country is run.

Steel’s play, Duff said, connects ‘the political and social divide of the Sixties and Seventies’ with the current social climate. Constance is ‘one of those women thwarted by circumstance’.

‘She could have been something else,’ she said.

‘Perhaps a singer. So what did that do to her?’

Blanche McIntyre will direct House Of Shades at the Almeida Theatre from May 18.

Duff said she returns to the stage as often as she can because it’s like ‘going home after being away for a long time, and getting back to your books and records and loved ones’.

The actress can be seen in Sex Education playing Erin Wiley, drug-addicted mother of so-called ‘bad girl’ Maeve, played by Emma Mackey.

‘I’ve never been stopped by so many millennials,’ she told me, bursting into giggles. ‘It’s hilarious!’

She also appears in BBC mini-series Salisbury as Tracy Daszkiewicz, public health chief for Wiltshire Council during the 2018 Novichok poisonings.
