LIVE: Mikel Arteta addresses the media after stripping Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of the Arsenal captaincy following latest disciplinary breach which has dominated the build-up crucial top-four clash with West Ham

  • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was axed as Arsenal captain on Tuesday
  • The striker was dropped for the win over Southampton for disciplinary reasons
  • Aubameyang has been involved in two more disciplinary issues this past year
  • Mikel Arteta will address the media at 1.30pm GMT to discuss this shocking call

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will speak to the media after his decision to axe Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Gunners captain earlier on Tuesday.

The Gabon forward, who was dropped for Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Southampton after coming back late from an approved trip to bring his mother over to the UK, will no longer be Arsenal captain after over two years in the role following Arteta’s call.

Aubameyang’s dismissal as skipper comes after three disciplinary breaches in the past 12 months, leaving the Gunners in disarray ahead of their crucial top-four clash with West Ham on Wednesday night.
