Strictly Come Dancing: Axed Mike Bushell gets his head stuck under Katya Jones’ DRESS

Published

Mike Bushell left viewers in stitches as his head was stuck under his professional partner Katya Jones’ dress during his epic final dance on Sunday’s Strictly Come Dancing results’ show.

The BBC Breakfast host, 53 – who was booted off the show over American media personality Michelle Visage, 51 – appeared to take his departure lightly as he put on an incredibly animated display with the Russian dancer, 30.

Ensuring his fellow contestants joined in on the fun, the presenter was in great spirits as he led a giant conga line – causing fans to brand his last performance as the ‘most iconic final dance ever’.

After failing to impress the judges, TV star Mike and Katya defiantly performed their Paso Doble routine one last time, but burst into a fit of giggles as his head was caught under the brunette beauty’s elaborate ensemble during a high-octane lift.

The sports pundit took things up a notch as he decided to ditch the dance, and grabbed his co-stars and presenters Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly to perform the conga.

Fans flooded Twitter with praise as they commented: ‘Mike and katya just had pretty much the most iconic final dance ever  from that lift (and trying to lift chris!) to then just leading a giant conga, hats off to him #strictly.

‘Best #Strictly moment EVER as Mike Bushell celebrates elimination by getting his head stuck in Katya’s crotch.

‘That wasn’t at all awkward was it? We will all have a lasting memory of Mike with his head stuck up Katya’s frock. Lovely. #Strictly.’ [sic]

Mike became the seventh celebrity to be eliminated on the show following weeks of ‘fix’ claims.

The presenter was unanimously voted off the show after he and partner Katya Jones took on Michelle and Giovanni Pernice in the dance-off.

He hit a bum note with his dance, in comparison to Michelle’s American Smooth, sending him crashing out of the competition the week before Blackpool.

It’s over: Mike Bushell became the seventh celebrity to be eliminated on Strictly Come Dancing following weeks of ‘fix’ claims alongside his professional partner Katya Jones

Craig Revel Horwood praised Mike, 53, and Katya, 30, for their efforts, but ultimately chose to save Michelle, stating: ‘One couple put up a very good fight but the couple I’d like to save is Michelle and Giovanni’.

Motsi Mabuse was in agreement, noting: ‘I have to say I have seen the best performance from both couples.

‘I really, really mean that but one couple was the clear winner of the dance off and I am going to save Michelle and Giovanni.’

Following the other judges’ lead, Bruno Tonoili concluded: ‘Well with all due respect to all of you, I have to save the couple that really performed to the highest standard and to me that couple is Michelle and Giovanni.’

Although her vote would no longer have made a difference, Head Judge Shirley Ballas revealed that she too would have also chosen to save Michelle and Giovanni.

When asked by Tess Daly about his time on the show, Mike said: ‘I have had the most amazing 9 or 10 weeks since we started training.

‘I have lost a stone and half. I’m a guy in his 50s, I’m mentally sharper, I feel able to deal with pressured situations – thanks to the dance-offs! It has changed me completely and honestly I’m not going to stop dancing.

‘My wife Emily has supported me all the way through and my daughters. My dad’s going to take up ballroom dancing and my mum has started Zumba.

‘I want to thank all my family and the judges. I have all the comments framed around the house. Every moment has been an absolute honour and a joy.’

Despite not making it through to Blackpool Week, which will see the contestants perform at the Tower Ballroom, Mike insisted he’d be there to show his support.

He continued: ‘I didn’t think I’d get this far so I have already booked a hotel in Blackpool, so I’m still coming along.’

He then turned his attention to partner Katya, gushing: ‘This amazing teacher, Katya, I can’t tell you the dedication that she puts in. She’d make the greatest sporting coach ever, she makes you believe that anything is possible.

‘She hasn’t taken it easy on me. We’ve had some difficult routines and I can’t believe the miracles you’ve performed. There’s so many memories.’

Katya responded: ‘Honestly I’m so proud of him and I think after even this dance which I think was your best dance you can leave with your head held up honestly; and in my eyes you’re the winner.

‘The only thing he has lost is weight. He came in every single day giving his heart, soul, everything, 200% no matter what after every single dance off and thank you so much. I’m so sorry I couldn’t take to Blackpool.’

Mike’s elimination comes after fans claimed the show was ‘fixed’ to stay in after he previously survived three dance offs in a row.

However, the dancing duo were spared and instead former England footballer David James and his professional partner Nadiya Bychkova were eliminated.

The pair then found themselves in the bottom two during Halloween Week when the tango did little to rouse fans alongside Corrie star Catherine Tyldesley and partner Johannes Radebe, who were ultimately given the boot after Shirley had the deciding vote.

North Yorkshire native Mike – who even received vile death threats over winning dance-offs – defiantly appeared on BBC Breakfast to defend his position on the show earlier this month.

He said: ‘It’s an entertainment show, we’re all trying our best, you’re not really competing against anybody else, you compete against yourself to try and learn to get better and better each week, even if its just learning a couple of new steps.

Jameela looked stunning in her outfit, which she paired with pointed white heels.

Jameela spoke on stage at the event alongside comedian Ilana Glazer, 32, and presenter Justine Harman, 43 and also posed for pictures with her fellow stars.

Jameela’s outing comes after she revealed she ‘lost all of her money’ by the age of 30 following years of mishandling her income.

The star, who has previously detailed growing up in a ‘poor’ household, admitted to PEOPLE that she was ‘never set up to protect herself financially’, and subsequently made a series of bad mistakes after she first began earning money at 22.

The star also confessed that not knowing how to file her taxes properly, picking up the tabs of pals who were earning less than her and online shopping in a bid to cure her depression further led to her ‘reaching rock bottom at thirty.’

Jameela has now made a huge name for herself after starring in NBC’s The Good Place, while also being a passionate advocate for feminism and body positivity.

However, it was back in 2009 when she hit the big time after landing a presenting gig on T4, and as a result, began earning a huge salary.

However, Jameela explained that she found the sudden surge of income ‘intimidating and complicated’ – resulting in her not knowing that she needed to open a savings account.

Strictly Come Dancing pulled out all the stops to mark Remembrance Sunday during this week’s results show.

Opening up the special episode, professionals Amy Dowden and Anton du Beke led a ‘powerful’ routine dance to Cyndi Lauper’s hit single Time After Time to pay their respects to the war dead, which ‘reduced viewers to tears’.

Actor Luke Evans also left emotional fans ‘in bits’ as he took to the stage to perform a rendition of Les Misérables’ Bring Him Home track – from his upcoming debut album At Last.

Latin dancer Anton, 53, played the role of a solider heading off to war, leaving behind his child and wife – portrayed by Welsh ballroom pro Amy, 28.

The duo broke into a moving routine and were later joined by their fellow professional dancers.

Overwhelmed with emotion, fans tweeted: ‘B****y hell @bbcstrictly You’ve just reduced me to tears! This was amazing #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing’.

‘Wow that dance routine from the pros was so beautiful & emotional, absolutely in bits watching #Strictly’, another penned.

A third added: ‘That opening dance for #RemembranceSunday was beautiful. Very respectful and perfect to watch #Strictly.’

Viewers were clearly captivated by the group’s efforts as they added: ‘#Strictly #RemembranceSunday the professionals’ opening routine brilliant and poignant – the expertise of front and back room production manifests in this fabulous show!’

‘What a stunning performance from the professionals absolutely beautiful ❤️ #Strictly #NeverForget #RemembranceSunday.’

Moments later, Fast & Furious 6 star Luke, 40, appeared teary-eyed as he showcased his vocal prowess while performing a heart-wrenching version of Bring Him Home.

Fans flooded Twitter with comments about the thespian’s ‘magical’ set – which also saw Amy join South African Johannes Radebe onstage.

Viewers penned: ‘I’m not shy to say Luke Evans singing that song and that dance was just magical. So emotional. #Strictly.
